Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the iconic Toyota Crown sedan, the Japanese automaker has unveiled two special edition versions for the domestic market: the Crown Special Edition Z “The 70th” and the Crown Special Edition Z Limited Matte Metal.
Toyota Crown Special Edition Z “The 70th” boasts a striking dual-tone exterior color scheme, with the upper body painted in Precious Metal and the lower half in either Precious White Pearl or Precious Black Pearl. This design, coupled with the large vertical grille, exudes an aura of luxury reminiscent of a Japanese-made Maybach.
On the other hand, the Limited Matte Metal version sports a distinctive matte gray paint job previously seen on the Crown Crossover and Crown Sport models.
Both special editions are fitted with 20-inch black alloy wheels. The Crown Special Edition Z “The 70th” offers optional side decals featuring the “70th” emblem, commemorating this milestone.
The interior of the “The 70th” edition exudes sophistication with its Black Lustre theme and wood trim accents. The 70th-anniversary logo and the Crown emblem are laser-engraved on the dashboard, embossed on the crystal gear knob, and featured on the door sill scuff plates, key fob, and recycled leather handbook case.
In contrast, the Limited Matte Metal edition stands out with its Black Lustre interior. While it forgoes the crystal gear knob, it offers optional headrests and a panoramic sunroof.
Inside the cabin, both editions feature the 70th-anniversary logo and the iconic Crown emblem laser-engraved on the dashboard and embossed on the crystal gear knob.
These special edition Toyota Crown sedans are offered with two powertrain options: a 2.5L self-charging hybrid system and an FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) based on the Toyota Mirai, utilizing hydrogen fuel cell technology.
In the Japanese market, the Crown Special Edition Z “The 70th” is priced from 7,550,000 yen (approximately $56,300) for the hybrid version and 8,550,000 yen (around $63,700) for the FCEV model.
Meanwhile, the Matte Metal edition with the hybrid powertrain starts at 8,100,000 yen (approx. $60,400), and the hydrogen fuel cell version is priced at 9,100,000 yen (around $67,800).
