The journey from China back to Vietnam was an eventful one for the owner of this Porsche 911 Dakar. As he entered the territory of Laos, the road conditions deteriorated significantly, and large trucks dominated the road, requiring constant maneuvering to avoid obstacles.

The stretch of road from Boten to Muang Xay, approximately 96 kilometers, was particularly challenging, with its poor condition putting the Porsche through its paces. However, the car emerged unscathed, aside from a thick coating of mud that covered the exterior.

This journey truly showcased the Porsche 911 Dakar’s off-road capabilities, which the German automaker had meticulously engineered for this limited-edition model. One of the key features that instilled confidence in the driver was the increased ground clearance of over 50 mm compared to the standard model.

Additionally, the Porsche 911 Dakar offers a further 30 mm of ground clearance in its High-Level mode, specifically designed for off-road conditions. This mode can be activated via a knob on the steering wheel, allowing the car to navigate speed bumps and potholes without scraping the undercarriage.

The first Porsche 911 Dakar to arrive in Vietnam sported a unique livery with red and yellow accents on the original GT Silver Metallic paint job. The numbers “19” were also added to both sides of the car and the front trunk lid, signifying the owner’s birth date—the 19th of April.

With only 2,560 units produced globally, the Porsche 911 Dakar is an exclusive limited-edition model. This particular car, bearing the serial number 1,904/2,500, is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbo engine that delivers 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque.

The engine is paired with an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and rear-axle steering, enabling the Porsche 911 Dakar to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h.
