A rare Toyota Sports 800 recently surfaced on social media, capturing the attention of classic car enthusiasts in Vietnam. The seller shared that his uncle, the previous owner, is aging and no longer able to pursue his passion for the vehicle, hence the sale.

He also revealed that this particular Toyota Sports 800 has a famous provenance, having previously been owned by renowned singer Che Linh. This added a layer of sentimental value to the car for the uncle.

However, when the desired price of $50,000, approximately 1.3 billion VND, was disclosed, it left many potential buyers shocked.

Notably, the photos revealed a vehicle that had endured the test of time, indicating that a significant investment would be required to restore it to its former glory.

The Toyota Sports 800 boasts a charming, curvaceous design accentuated by large round headlights and chrome accents. Its low-slung stance and low-set grille contribute to its distinctive appearance.

One unique feature is the forward-opening, upward-hinged front bonnet, providing easy access to the engine. The captivating fastback styling, complete with a rear window, offers a glimpse into the interior and adds visual appeal to the rear end.

In terms of dimensions, the Toyota Sports 800 measures 3,580 mm in length, 1,465 mm in width, and 1,175 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,000 mm. Its lightweight construction results in a curb weight of approximately 580 kg.

Powering the Toyota Sports 800 is a 790 cc air-cooled, horizontally opposed two-cylinder engine, mated to a four-speed manual transmission. From 1965 to 1969, the 2U 0.8-liter variant produced 44 horsepower at 5,400 rpm, while the similar 2U-B version was manufactured from 1966 to 1976.
