After much speculation, BMW has officially unveiled the M2 CS 2026 – the highest-performing variant of its compact sports coupe.
The BMW M2 CS 2026 boasts significant improvements in engine performance, chassis dynamics, weight reduction, and equipment while remaining faithful to its pure rear-wheel-drive configuration, a rarity in the high-performance segment.
Powering the M2 CS is a 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, delivering an impressive 523 horsepower and 649 Nm of torque. Compared to the standard M2, this represents a boost of 50 horsepower and 48 Nm, making the M2 CS the most powerful M2 ever produced.
The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, with no manual option available, which may disappoint purists. However, unlike its bigger CS siblings, the M3, M4, and M5, which utilize all-wheel drive, the M2 CS retains the traditional rear-wheel drive, offering a quintessential M driving experience.
One of the standout features of the BMW M2 CS 2026 is its lightweight construction. Through extensive use of carbon fiber, including a striking ducktail-shaped carbon fiber rear lid, along with carbon fiber sports seats and forged wheels, the coupe weighs approximately 44 kg less than the standard M2.
With increased power and reduced weight, BMW M has comprehensively tuned the chassis. Stiffer springs, adapted adaptive dampers, and enhancements to the electronic limited-slip differential, ABS, and stability control ensure the car maintains optimal stability and traction during high-performance driving.
BMW claims the M2 CS can sprint from 0–96 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 302 km/h, making it a standout performer in the compact rear-wheel-drive sports coupe segment.
In the US, the BMW M2 CS 2026 is priced at $99,775 USD (~2.59 billion VND), a significant jump from the 2025 M2’s price tag of $69,375 USD (~1.8 billion VND).
BMW confirms that the M2 CS will be assembled at the San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico starting August 2025, with deliveries expected by the end of the year.
