Huawei and JAC Motors have unveiled their flagship luxury sedan, the Maextro S800, in China. With a price range of 708,000 – 1,018,000 RMB (approximately 2.47 – 3.56 billion VND), the vehicle is positioned as a rival to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

Huawei’s luxury sedan enters the market, competing with the likes of Mercedes-Maybach.

Built on the Turing II Longxing platform, the S800 is a large luxury sedan with impressive dimensions: 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, 1,536 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,370 mm. These specifications surpass those of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

The Maextro S800 boasts larger dimensions than the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

In the Chinese market, the Maextro S800 is offered in two variants: a pure electric version and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version. The pure electric model features a four-wheel drive system with dual motors, while the EREV version offers a choice between a dual-motor or tri-motor four-wheel drive setup.

The vehicle marks the debut of Huawei’s intelligent 800V “Xue Xiao” extended-range platform. The EREV model with dual motors offers an impressive 400 km range in pure electric mode and up to 1,333 km when combined with the gasoline engine. The tri-motor EREV version delivers a pure electric range of 365 km and a combined range of 1,200 km.

The pure electric Maextro S800 is equipped with a 97 kWh battery that supports 5C ultra-fast charging, resulting in a range of 702 km CLTC. Charging the battery from 10% to 80% takes only 12 minutes, while the 65 kWh battery in the EREV version requires 10.5 minutes.

The Maextro S800 is offered with both pure electric and extended-range electric options.

Performance-wise, the Maextro S800 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 to 4.9 seconds, depending on the variant. Its braking performance is equally impressive, with a stopping distance of 34.5 meters from 100 km/h. The vehicle also features a rear-wheel steering system with a 12° steering angle, a turning radius of 5.05 meters, and a maximum crab angle of 16°.

Furthermore, the vehicle integrates Huawei’s latest ADS 4 intelligent driving system with “AI training AI” capability. It utilizes four LiDAR sensors and a total of 32 additional sensors for 360-degree perception, enabling advanced driving features such as narrow lane driving, automatic obstacle avoidance, and precise parking.

Safety is a key highlight of the Maextro S800. Adopting Huawei’s Xuanwu safety architecture, the vehicle features a body structure composed of over 92% ultra-high-strength steel and aluminum. The battery is designed with five layers of protection and incorporates technology to prevent thermal runaway. Huawei and CATL assert that the battery design exceeds the latest Chinese safety regulations.

Additionally, the sedan introduces the Tulindragon platform, which includes a “time-reasoning” suspension system that can adjust in anticipation of bumpy roads or sharp turns. The suspension setup comprises a double-wishbone front and a 5-link rear, coupled with adaptive air suspension.

The Maextro S800 offers two interior configurations: a 4-seat and a 5-seat layout. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 445L and is lined with premium velvet. Customers can choose from five interior color options: brown, white-purple, white, white-brown, and dark brown.

In terms of amenities, the Maextro S800 boasts the most advanced audio system in the Harmony Intelligent Mobility series, comprising 43 speakers, 7.5.10 independent channels, and a power output of 2,920 W. This includes four headrest speakers per seat, ten overhead channels, an adaptive sound space algorithm, and retractable tweeters capable of producing frequencies below 40 Hz.

Another notable feature is the “StarFlash” digital car key, introduced alongside the Huawei Watch 5. This key offers advanced functionality, including user recognition from a distance of 20 meters, unlocking from 3 meters away, and precise operation even when the user is handling luggage near the vehicle. Huawei claims that the system is five times more accurate and six times more reliable than traditional keys.
