A fascinating exhibition from May 28 to June 1, showcasing an array of unique and rare vintage vehicles from brands like Piaggio, Lambretta, Rumi, and Sachs (Germany).
Each vehicle tells a story and represents a part of Ho Chi Minh City’s rich history and cultural evolution.
Meet Mr. Nguyen Hai Dang, a passionate vintage vehicle enthusiast who proudly displays his beloved possessions and connects with fellow enthusiasts.
Mr. Dang pays meticulous attention to detail, ensuring his outfit matches the era of his beloved Lambretta, a iconic mode of transportation in Saigon and other major Vietnamese cities during the 1950s and 1970s.
The beautifully restored Lambretta with its distinctive “pregnant belly” shape is a source of pride for vintage vehicle collectors and a staple at exhibitions, evoking a sense of nostalgia for bygone eras.
Mr. Tuan CD showcases the Rumi, a 125cc two-stroke vehicle that graced the streets of Saigon in the 1950s. Its compact design made it ideal for use in aircraft hangars at Tan Son Nhat Airport during that era.
This particular vehicle stands out with its unique left-side reverse brake pedal. The logo on the handlebar remains untouched, and the kick-start lever is located just above the gear lever. The rider operates the kick-start by standing next to the vehicle and using their foot to start the engine. The embossed logos on various components add to the vehicle’s timeless appeal.

In 1954, the Rumi Formichino, affectionately nicknamed “Gobbetto” due to its distinctive fuel tank shape, claimed the Italian National Championship title.
The Suzuki Sport AS50 (circa 1968) is a standout model in Suzuki’s 50cc lineup, designed to appeal to young riders and newcomers to the world of motorcycling. It features a front telescopic fork, front and rear drum brakes, and a basic steel frame. The AS50 played a significant role in Suzuki’s success in the small-displacement motorcycle segment during the 1960s.
