“Mercedes-Benz Responds to Lawsuit Filed by Singer Duy Manh”

Regarding the lawsuit pertaining to singer Duy Manh’s Mercedes-Benz S 450 L catching fire, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam shared with Tri Thức – Znews some information.

Fire Caused by a Mouse?

Firstly, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam asserted that they did not make the statement, “the mouse is criminally responsible.” Prior to this, Duy Manh shared on his personal page: “I asked the car manufacturer at that time that if the car caught fire and spread to the apartment building, who would be responsible? The car dealer said it was the mouse’s responsibility.”

According to Mercedes-Benz Vietnam, the company and its distributors have coordinated with related organizations to inspect and determine the cause of the fire. Technical inspection results concluded that the fire was caused by rodent intrusion and not due to any technical faults of the product.

Meanwhile, on his personal page, singer Duy Manh stated, “Later, I received a conclusion from the police that the cause of the car fire was an electrical short circuit.”

“You can see in the video that when the fire broke out, the smoke was blinding, almost causing the apartment building to catch fire as well. The security guards had to force open the car hood to spray water, and when the police arrived, they opened the hood, which was charred and blackened from the heat of the fire. Everything inside was burnt, and even the hood was warped from the heat,” singer Duy Manh wrote in his latest social media post.

Insurance Payout

Mercedes-Benz Vietnam informed that the relevant insurance agency also assessed the cause of the fire with the company and agreed to pay compensation according to the procedure.

“When the police’s appraisal determined that the car fire was caused by an electrical short circuit, they (the insurance company) took the initiative to contact and compensate me with an amount of about 2 billion VND,” shared Duy Manh on his personal page.

The case is still being handled by the authorities according to legal procedures. Previously, in early April, the representative of the company and singer Duy Manh attended a mediation session at the court, but it was unsuccessful. According to the singer, the case will be resolved in court on April 25th.

Previously, at 9:35 pm on February 15, 2023, while parked in the basement of an apartment building in Thanh My Loi ward, Thu Duc city, the Mercedes-Benz S 450 L suddenly caught fire.
