Suzuki Fronx Excels in JNCAP Safety Tests, Achieving a 4-Star Rating in the 2024 Updated Standards

The Suzuki Fronx, a popular choice among Vietnamese consumers for its youthful design and attractive features, has proven its safety capabilities in the latest JNCAP (Japan New Car Assessment Program) evaluation.

The compact urban SUV scored an impressive 84% overall, with a breakdown of 92% in collision prevention, 76% in collision protection structure, and a perfect 100% in automatic emergency call systems.

JNCAP particularly commended the Fronx for its compliance with the latest standards, including advanced requirements for intersection automatic emergency braking systems, pedestrian lower leg protection, and steering stability during obstacle avoidance.

However, the Fronx fell short in certain areas, such as nighttime headlight effectiveness and pedestrian head protection, resulting in a 4-star rating. Despite this, the Fronx remains among the highest-scoring vehicles in JNCAP’s 2025 rankings, alongside its direct competitor, the Honda Elevate, which achieved a 5-star rating in its recent evaluation.

First introduced in the Indian market in January 2023, the Suzuki Fronx is now expanding its reach in Southeast Asia. The model is set to launch in Indonesia on May 28, 2025, with plans to import the vehicle into Vietnam by the end of this year or early 2026, following the completion of local emission testing procedures.

With dimensions of 3,995 x 1,765 x 1,550 mm (LxWxH), the Fronx shares design similarities with the Suzuki Grand Vitara, especially in the front grille and headlight design. The bold front bumper and triangular fog light housing add a distinctive touch to its overall appearance.

The interior boasts a modern aesthetic, featuring a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel design is consistent with other Suzuki models like the XL7, Ertiga, and Swift.

In the Indian market, the Suzuki Fronx offers two petrol engine options: a 1.0L BoosterJet turbocharged engine with mild hybrid technology, producing 99 horsepower and 148 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission; and a 1.2L K-Series Dual Jet naturally aspirated engine, delivering 89 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque, coupled with a 5-speed manual or AMT (AGS) automatic transmission.
