The next-generation Kia Seltos has entered the public testing phase, with prototypes of the updated model recently spotted on Indian roads, revealing notable design and technological advancements.
Despite heavy camouflage, the 2026 Kia Seltos prototype revealed some new details. It features LED daytime running lights similar in design to the modern style seen on recent Kia models, particularly the Sportage.
This suggests that Kia is moving towards a unified design language across its product range while elevating the image of the Seltos, an SUV that has been highly successful in Asian markets, including Vietnam.
One of the biggest highlights of the new Seltos is the addition of a hybrid option. This configuration is expected to combine a 1.6L gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of approximately 141 horsepower, similar to the current Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro Hybrid models.
Alongside the hybrid variant, the 2026 Kia Seltos is anticipated to retain gasoline engine options ranging from 1.4L to 1.6L, with power outputs varying from 113 to 158 horsepower. Meanwhile, the diesel engine variant is likely to be discontinued, following Hyundai-Kia’s trend of phasing out this engine type.
Additionally, the electronic all-wheel-drive system (E-AWD) is expected to be offered on select high-end trims, enhancing the SUV’s performance and maneuverability.
According to the plan, the new Kia Seltos will be officially unveiled in January 2026. However, the hybrid version will only enter production around August of the same year, implying a late-year market launch.
In terms of pricing, the 2026 Kia Seltos is expected to see a slight increase compared to its predecessor but will remain accessible. Specifically, the flagship hybrid model could start at approximately 20 million won (equivalent to 374.7 million VND). However, this price will likely be significantly higher in the Vietnamese market due to taxes and import costs. Currently, the Kia Seltos is available in Vietnam with a starting price of 599 million VND.
