Under the hood, the Mazda EZ-6 Sports Edition is expected to offer the same two powertrain options as the standard model. The first is a hybrid system with a range-extending gasoline engine. This setup includes a 1.5L four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a 160 kW (217 hp) rear electric motor. With a full tank and battery, it offers a combined range of 1,301 km on the CLTC cycle and achieves impressive fuel efficiency of 3.6L/100 km.
The second option is an all-electric powertrain with a potent 190 kW (258 hp) motor. Depending on the battery size, it delivers a range of 480 to 600 km on the CLTC cycle. A DC fast-charging option allows for a quick recharge, taking the battery from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
The Mazda EZ-6 Sports Edition is likely to retain the standard model’s powertrains.
Safety is a priority, with nine airbags, including a center airbag, contributing to its impressive crash safety rating in the European market.
The Mazda EZ-6, known as the e6 in markets like Europe and Thailand, is currently only available in China. Whether Mazda plans to introduce this model to Vietnam as a replacement for the Mazda6 remains to be seen.
