Pickup Truck Sales in May 2025 (units)
Ford Ranger: 1,254 units
Ford sold 1,254 units of the Ranger in Vietnam in May 2025, an 8.1% decrease compared to the previous month. However, the Ford Ranger remains the top-selling pickup truck in the market, outperforming its competitors.
Ford Ranger
This June, Ford is offering attractive official promotions for its pickup truck range. The Wildtrack and Sport versions of the Ford Ranger come with a 100% registration fee support, amounting to savings of VND 52 million and VND 59 million, respectively. For the Ford Ranger Raptor, customers can choose between a one-year physical warranty or a cash benefit of VND 10 million. The Ranger XLS, including both the 4×2 and 4×4 versions, comes with a two-year physical warranty or a cash benefit of VND 10 million.
In addition to these promotions, the Ford Ranger’s popularity in Vietnam can be attributed to its eye-catching design, superior comfort and safety features, and a diverse range of versions to choose from. Its price ranges from VND 707 million to VND 1.306 billion.
The Ford Ranger offers two diesel engine options with a 2.0L capacity. The first is a single-turbo engine that delivers a maximum output of 167 horsepower and a peak torque of 405 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The second option is a twin-turbo engine that produces 207 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Mitsubishi Triton: 283 units
Unlike the segment leader, the Ford Ranger, the Mitsubishi Triton experienced a successful month with a 31% growth in sales, reaching 283 units. With these results, the Triton reclaimed its position as the second best-selling pickup truck, surpassing its compatriot rival, the Toyota Hilux.
Mitsubishi Triton
Mitsubishi is also offering official promotions for the Triton during June. Specifically, the brand is providing a 50% support on the registration fee for the 2WD AT GLX, 2WD AT Premium, and 4WD AT Athlete versions, resulting in savings ranging from VND 20 million to VND 28 million. Additionally, they are offering gifts worth VND 10 million to customers who purchase this pickup truck.
The Mitsubishi Triton is competitively priced in Vietnam, ranging from VND 655 million to VND 924 million. It also boasts an impressive design and features.
Notable features of this pickup truck include an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7-inch multi-information display integrated into the instrument cluster, a 9-inch center touchscreen with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, forward collision mitigation and warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic headlights, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Under the hood, the Mitsubishi Triton is powered by a 2.4L MIVEC turbocharged diesel engine with four cylinders. In the 2WD AT GLX and 2WD AT Premium versions, this engine produces a maximum output of 184 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. The 4WD AT Athlete version takes it up a notch with 204 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either a single-wheel or all-wheel drive system, depending on the version.
Toyota Hilux: 264 units
The Toyota Hilux witnessed a dip in sales during May 2025, with only 264 units sold, representing a 24.7% decrease compared to the previous month. As a result, it slipped to the third position in the pickup truck segment, behind the Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Triton.
Toyota Hilux
Unlike its two competitors mentioned above, the Toyota Hilux does not offer official promotions. However, it carries the weight of a reputable brand name.
The Toyota Hilux is priced between VND 668 million and VND 999 million in Vietnam. For this price, customers get notable features such as a 9-inch center touchscreen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, six sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The Toyota Hilux is powered by two types of 4-cylinder diesel engines. The first is a 2.4L engine that delivers 144 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The second is a turbocharged 2.8L engine that produces 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Both engine options are paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and either a single-wheel or all-wheel drive system, depending on the version.
Isuzu D-Max: 77 units
The Isuzu D-Max witnessed the highest growth rate in the pickup truck segment during May, with a sales increase of 140.6%, amounting to 77 units sold. However, it remains at the bottom of the segment due to its lower sales volume compared to its competitors.
Isuzu D-Max
The Isuzu D-Max is currently the most affordable pickup truck in the segment, with prices ranging from VND 650 million to VND 880 million for its four versions. Unfortunately, its sales are impacted by a design that may not appeal to all customers and insufficient features. The association of the Isuzu brand with commercial vehicles in Vietnam, along with ineffective marketing and sales strategies, also play a role in its lower sales performance.
The Isuzu D-Max comes equipped with LED lights, 18-inch wheels, a 7-inch multi-information display in the instrument cluster, a 9-inch center touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a USB Type-C port, black and brown leather seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with CoolMax heat-reducing technology, UVA/UVB protective windshield glass, an 8-speaker Dynamic Surround Sound system, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system with PM2.5 air filtration.
Under the hood, the Isuzu D-Max is powered by a 1.9L 4-cylinder diesel engine that delivers a maximum output of 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either a single-wheel or all-wheel drive system.
