Audi expands its Q5 lineup with new plug-in hybrid variants, showcasing a significant step forward in the electrification of this mid-size SUV for the European market.
The highlight of this upgrade is the new powertrain. The standard Audi Q5 PHEV is equipped with a 2.0L TFSI gasoline engine paired with an electric motor integrated into a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup delivers a combined output of 295 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, enabling the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
Notably, Audi has also introduced a high-performance version for customers seeking a sportier driving experience. This variant boosts the output to 362 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 5.1 seconds, rivaling many pure-sport SUVs in the market.
Audi states that the Q5 PHEV’s battery capacity has increased by approximately 45% compared to its predecessor. Consequently, the vehicle can now operate solely on electric power over a range of 82 to 100 kilometers (according to the WLTP European standard), sufficiently catering to daily urban commutes.
In addition to increased battery capacity, the charging speed has also been significantly improved. While the previous generation supported a maximum AC charging rate of 7.4 kW, the new model has been upgraded to 11 kW. With this power, users can fully charge the battery in about 2.5 hours – a time frame that Audi compares to “faster than some high-end smartphones.”
All Q5 PHEV variants feature the S line interior package, including black leather sports seats and a three-zone automatic climate control system. The cabin exudes a modern ambiance with a 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch central touchscreen.
Additionally, several exterior design accents accentuate the sporty nature of this hybrid SUV, such as the S-line sports suspension, red-painted brake calipers, and 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels.
According to Audi, the plug-in hybrid variants of the Q5 will be produced at the San José Chiapa plant in Mexico, where the company has made significant investments specifically for the Q5 line. The vehicles will be available for order in the European market from the end of June 2025.
In Germany, the starting price for the Audi Q5 e-hybrid quattro is 63,400 Euros (approximately 1.91 billion VND), while the Sportback e-hybrid quattro variant starts at 65,900 Euros (1.99 billion VND). The high-performance versions are priced at 71,800 Euros (2.16 billion VND) and 74,300 Euros (2.24 billion VND), respectively.
