According to Carscoops, it was only a matter of time until US customers felt the impact of rising prices following President Donald Trump’s new tariff policies and the ensuing trade war.

Recently, Ford has begun increasing prices for its Mexico-made Maverick, Bronco Sport, and Mustang Mach-E models. Per a memo from a Ford dealer in the US obtained by Reuters, the price hike for these vehicles will be up to USD 2,000 per car.

A detailed announcement posted on Reddit further revealed that the Ford Maverick’s price in the US would increase by USD 645 to USD 1,150, depending on the trim level, starting in early May. Shipping costs have also been adjusted, with a USD 100 increase, and some additional options, such as a tonneau cover, have seen price adjustments as well.

According to Carscoops, after the latest adjustments, the Ford Maverick in the US is now USD 8,150 more expensive than it was just a few years ago.

Moreover, compared to August 2024, the Ford Maverick has seen a price increase of USD 1,950 in less than a year. Specifically, the upgraded version of the pickup, which previously started at USD 26,295 excluding a USD 1,595 shipping fee, now has a base price of USD 28,145, plus a USD 1,695 shipping charge.

Currently, the Ford Mustang Mach-E in the US starts at USD 37,995, excluding a USD 1,995 shipping fee. The Ford Bronco Sport has a starting price of USD 30,995, excluding a USD 1,595 shipping charge.

Carscoops reports that the new prices will take effect for vehicles produced after May 2nd.

A Ford spokesperson stated that the price increase resulted from Ford’s mid-year pricing actions, which the company typically undertakes, along with “some of the tariffs Ford is facing.” The automaker also noted that it had not passed on the full cost of the tariff increases to its customers.

Carscoops opined that in the future, US automakers might implement price increases gradually to avoid overwhelming customers.

If this is indeed the strategy automakers plan to employ, the US market could see car prices rise by a few hundred dollars with each adjustment instead of a sudden surge due to tariff impacts.
