Toyota recently unveiled the highly anticipated hybrid version of its iconic Land Cruiser 300 SUV, marking a significant step forward in the brand’s electrification strategy.
The Land Cruiser 300 HEV 2025 is offered in three distinct trims: VX, VXR, and GR-S, along with seven exterior color options to choose from.
In terms of design, the exterior has been meticulously refined to set it apart from its traditional counterparts. The hybrid model features a more expansive black-painted front bumper that envelops the fog light area, exuding a muscular and contemporary aesthetic when compared to the gasoline-powered version.
The rear end has also been enhanced to convey a sense of solidity and robustness. The VXR trim boasts exclusive front and rear bumpers, sporty side steps, and uniquely designed side skirts. Meanwhile, the GR Sport trim forgoes these exterior modifications but features the distinctive “457 TT” insignia on both sides and the “HEV” emblem on the rear doors, signifying its electrified upgrade.
Step inside the Land Cruiser 300 HEV, and you’ll find a cabin that seamlessly blends luxurious design with modern technology. At the heart of the dashboard sits a pair of 12.3-inch displays: one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the new infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicle is also equipped with a JBL 14-speaker audio system, a multifunction steering wheel, and a two-tone black/red interior option for a sportier feel. Notably, it retains a traditional gear lever instead of adopting an electronic shift lever like the LX700h, and it also lacks paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.
When it comes to equipment, the hybrid model boasts all the features of a standard Land Cruiser 300, plus the added benefit of V2L 1500W charging (220V) capability, allowing you to power camping accessories and equipment.
The Land Cruiser 300 HEV is equipped with a robust hybrid system that pairs a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor, generating a combined output of 457 horsepower and a formidable 790 Nm of torque. This surpasses the performance of the twin-turbocharged 3.3L diesel engine (304 horsepower, 700 Nm) and places the Land Cruiser 300 HEV on par with the Lexus LX700h. The powertrain is complemented by a 10-speed automatic transmission and the advanced E-KDSS electronic suspension system.
Notably, the fuel tank capacity varies across the trims: the VXR features a 98-liter tank—the largest ever offered on a Land Cruiser—while the GR Sport is equipped with a 68-liter tank. This differentiation is noteworthy when compared to the 80-liter tanks of previous gasoline and diesel models and even surpasses the Lexus LX700h’s 68-liter tank.
Staying true to its off-road heritage, the Land Cruiser is fitted with a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack that delivers efficient cooling and water resistance, ensuring consistent performance even in challenging conditions. The VXR trim takes it a step further with the addition of the AVS adaptive suspension system and a Torsen rear differential lock, while the GR-S trim ups the ante with front and rear differential locks and the E-KDSS suspension system optimized for off-road terrain.
Currently, the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid is available for purchase in the United Arab Emirates, with a starting price of 389,900 AED (approximately 2.76 billion VND) for the VXR trim and 409,900 AED (around 2.9 billion VND) for the GR-Sport trim.
This electrified SUV is also confirmed to arrive in Australia in the first half of 2026, and Toyota is expected to introduce it to its domestic market in Japan soon.
