Peugeot has recently unveiled its high-performance electric vehicle, the E-208 GTi, an electrified take on the legendary Peugeot 205 GTi that dominated the roads in the 1980s.
The Peugeot E-208 GTi sports a modern and eye-catching design with an exclusive red exterior, reminiscent of the iconic red livery of the original 205 GTi released over 40 years ago.
The interior continues the sporty theme with red floor mats, seat belts, and accents, creating a space that exudes a “street racing” vibe. The E-208 GTi’s seats are inspired by the 205 GTi 1.9 version, featuring a red decorative stripe running down the back, while the right half of the backrest borrows the design from the 205 GTi 1.6, resulting in a nostalgic blend.
The Alcantara-wrapped sports steering wheel bears the GTi logo at the bottom, along with Peugeot’s signature lion emblem at its center. Red accents on the steering wheel complete the classic hothatch feel with a modern twist.
Beneath its retro exterior beats an all-electric heart. The Peugeot E-208 GTi is powered by the M4+ electric motor, delivering 280 horsepower and a maximum torque of 345 Nm. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 180 km/h, impressing both speed enthusiasts and urban youth seeking dynamism.
The Peugeot E-208 GTi‘s energy source is a CATL battery pack with a capacity of 54 kWh, enabling a maximum range of 350 km according to the WLTP standard—enough for a week of city driving without recharging concerns.
In terms of charging, when connected to a 100 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in less than 30 minutes. Using the more common 7.4 kW AC charger at home or the office, a full charge will take around 5 hours.
Peugeot has not yet announced the exact release date or pricing for the E-208 GTi, but according to sources, this electric vehicle is likely to hit the market by the end of this year as a strategic offering in the sports urban electric car segment.
