The Vietnamese auto market witnessed impressive growth in the first five months of 2025, with a 21% year-on-year increase in industry-wide total sales, indicating a strong recovery in consumer demand.
Specifically, according to VAMA, the total sales of the entire market as of May 2025 increased by 21% compared to the same period in 2024. Passenger cars saw a 19% rise, commercial vehicles increased by 26%, and specialized vehicles went up by 30% compared to the previous year.
As of May 2025, the sales of domestically assembled vehicles increased by 13%, while imported cars witnessed a 29% surge compared to the same period last year.
Here are the top 10 best-selling models in the first five months of 2025:
VinFast VF 3: 19,416 units
With sales of 19,416 units in the first five months of 2025, the VF 3 mini electric car continues to assert its appeal and market dominance in the small electric car segment in Vietnam. With its compact design suitable for urban areas and a price tag of just VND 299 million, the VF 3 is quickly creating a new segment in the Vietnamese market.
VinFast VF 5: 18,752 units
Ranking second after the VF 3 is the VF 5, a Class A electric SUV. With 18,752 units delivered as of May, the VF 5 is not only one of the best-selling electric cars in the market but also reflects the increasingly positive reception of compact, modern urban vehicles by consumers.
The VF 5 boasts a youthful, urban-chic design, targeting young customers and small families living in big cities. Currently, this model is priced at VND 529 million (including the battery).
VinFast VF 6: 7,307 units
Ranking third in the list of best-selling cars in Vietnam in the first five months of 2025, the VinFast VF 6 continues to make an impression with a total sales volume of 7,307 units. This Class B electric SUV is positioned higher than the VF 5, featuring a modern, European-style design, and focusing on user experience in terms of both technology and driving feel.
The VF 6 is currently offered in two versions, priced at VND 689 million and VND 749 million, respectively.
Ford Ranger: 6,382 units
Excluding electric cars, the Ford Ranger is Vietnam’s best-selling gasoline-powered car in the first five months of 2025. With stable sales and consistently leading the pickup segment, the Ranger continues to showcase its enduring appeal thanks to its robust design, flexible performance, and proven durability.
Ford offers multiple versions of the Ranger in Vietnam, with prices ranging from VND 669 million to VND 1.299 billion.
Mazda CX-5: 5,884 units
At the end of the first five months of 2025, the Mazda CX-5 recorded cumulative sales of 5,884 units, ranking fifth in the top 10 best-selling cars. Its fashionable and modern design, eye-catching exterior colors, and competitive pricing in its segment have made the Mazda CX-5 a popular 5-seat gasoline crossover in the market.
Currently, the Mazda CX-5 is assembled and distributed by THACO AUTO in Vietnam, with prices ranging from VND 749 million to VND 979 million.
Mitsubishi Xpander: 4,825 units
With sales of 4,825 units, the Mitsubishi Xpander comfortably sits in sixth place in the top 10 best-selling cars in the first five months of 2025. Nonetheless, this MPV remains the top-selling model in the small multi-purpose vehicle segment. The Xpander is currently offered in four versions, priced from VND 560 million to VND 698 million.
Ford Territory: 4,521 units
The Ford Territory climbed up the rankings thanks to its strong sales growth in May, securing a spot among the top 10 best-selling cars in the first five months of 2025 with 4,521 units sold.
The vehicle is available in four versions, with prices ranging from VND 759 million to VND 889 million.
Toyota Vios: 4,206 units
At the end of the first five months, the Toyota Vios recorded cumulative sales of 4,206 units. After a challenging start, the recent upgrade has helped the Vios reaffirm its leadership in the B-segment sedan category. It is currently offered in three versions, priced from VND 458 million to VND 545 million.
Toyota Yaris Cross: 4,115 units
The Toyota Yaris Cross recorded cumulative sales of 4,115 units in the first five months of 2025, surpassing the Mitsubishi Xforce to become the second best-selling B-segment SUV in Vietnam, only behind the VinFast VF 6. This model is gradually establishing a solid position in the market. It is currently available in two versions, priced at VND 650 million and VND 765 million, respectively.
Hyundai Accent: 4,020 units
In the first five months of 2025, Hyundai delivered a total of 4,020 Accent units to consumers.
The Hyundai Accent is currently offered in four versions, with prices ranging from VND 439 million to VND 569 million.
