MPV Sales for May 2025 (units: vehicles)

Mitsubishi Xpander: 1,100 units

During May 2025, the Mitsubishi Xpander experienced growth again after a significant sales decline the previous month. The small MPV achieved sales of 1,100 units, a 13.1% increase. With this result, the Mitsubishi Xpander once again surpassed its competitors and led the MPV segment in Vietnam. Additionally, the Xpander was the only MPV model to make it into the top 10 best-selling vehicles in the overall market.

Mitsubishi Xpander

In May, the Mitsubishi Xpander received significant incentives from the brand. Specifically, the car was offered with a 50% discount on registration fees for all four versions, amounting to values between 28 and 35 million VND. Additionally, fuel vouchers worth 15 to 20 million VND were provided, depending on the version. A rearview camera worth 2.5 million VND was also included for the Xpander MT version. The AT Premium and Cross versions were gifted with a 360-degree camera valued at 20 million VND. The total value of incentives for the Mitsubishi Xpander could reach over 70 million VND.

Over the past several months, the Mitsubishi Xpander has consistently offered official promotional programs. Additionally, the vehicle remains popular due to its affordable price range, starting from 560 to 698 million VND, attractive design, spacious 7-seat interior, and adequate features.

Under the hood, the Mitsubishi Xpander is equipped with a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces a maximum of 105 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a front-wheel drive system and either a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.

Toyota Veloz Cross: 615 units

Ranking second in the MPV segment in Vietnam is the Toyota Veloz Cross, a direct competitor of the Mitsubishi Xpander. However, compared to its domestic rival, the Veloz Cross sold only half as much, reaching 615 units, a modest 2.3% increase.

Toyota Veloz Cross

In June 2025, Toyota offered a 100% discount on registration fees for the Veloz Cross, saving customers between 64 and 66 million VND. Additionally, they provided a promotional interest rate of just 1.99% per year for customers purchasing this small MPV.

The success of the Toyota Veloz Cross lies in its official incentives, affordable price range (from 638 to 660 million VND), robust MPV-SUV crossover design, and comprehensive convenience and safety features. Unlike the Mitsubishi Xpander, the Toyota model offers more advanced ADAS safety features.

The “heart” of the Veloz Cross is a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a CVT transmission and front-wheel drive.

Toyota Innova Cross: 507 units

Closely following the Veloz Cross is another Toyota model, the Toyota Innova Cross. This mid-size MPV sold 507 units, a significant decrease of 31.8%.

Toyota Innova Cross

The Toyota Innova Cross is currently offered in Vietnam with two versions, priced from 825 million to 1.013 billion VND. True to its price, the vehicle boasts an attractive design, spacious interior, and comprehensive equipment as standard.

Customers purchasing the Toyota Innova Cross can choose from two types of engines. The first is a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 172 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a Direct Shift CVT automatic transmission. The second option is a hybrid powertrain, consisting of a 150-horsepower gasoline engine combined with a 111-horsepower electric motor and a CVT automatic transmission.

Kia Carnival: 425 units

The next MPV model to experience sales growth in May 2025 was the Kia Carnival. This large MPV sold 425 units, an increase of 11.2%, placing it fourth in the segment.

Kia Carnival

Compared to other models on this list, the Kia Carnival has the highest price range, starting from 1.299 to 1.849 billion VND. Notably, the top-of-the-line 1.6 Turbo Hybrid Signature version is currently offered with a 50 million VND discount, bringing the price down to 1.799 billion VND for June.

Despite its high price, the Kia Carnival is popular in Vietnam due to its modern design, spacious interior, and abundant features. Additionally, it is one of the few MPVs in the segment to offer a hybrid powertrain option.

The Kia Carnival is currently available with two types of engines. The first is a 2.2L Smartstream 4-cylinder DOHC diesel engine that delivers 199 horsepower and 441 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The second option is a hybrid powertrain that includes a 1.6L SmartStream 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, an electric motor, a lithium-ion polymer battery with a capacity of 1.49 kWh, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The combined output is 242 horsepower, and the vehicle consumes an average of 4.95 liters of gasoline per 100 km.

Hyundai Stargazer: 327 units

May 2025 was not a favorable period for the Hyundai Stargazer, as its sales decreased by 1.8% to 327 units. However, it remained more popular than its sibling, the Hyundai Custin.

Hyundai Stargazer

With a price range of 489 to 599 million VND, the Hyundai Stargazer is currently one of the most affordable MPVs in the Vietnamese market. Unfortunately, its exterior design may not appeal to all customers.

The “heart” of the Hyundai Stargazer is a Smartstream G 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine that produces 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an intelligent IVT continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive.

Kia Carens: 275 units

Ranking next in the MPV segment is the Kia Carens. This small MPV achieved sales of 275 units, a decrease of 16.4%, and performed significantly worse than its sibling, the Carnival, despite its lower price.

Kia Carens

The Kia Carens is currently offered in Vietnam with four versions, priced from 636 to 764 million VND. Not only has the number of versions been reduced, but the MPV has also lost one engine option.

The Kia Carens is now available with two engine options. The first is a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 113 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an IVT continuously variable automatic transmission. The second option is a 1.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 138 horsepower and 242 Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Honda BR-V: 259 units

In May 2025, the Honda BR-V sold 259 units, an increase of 11.6%. This achievement can be attributed in part to the official promotional programs, including a 50% discount on registration fees and a 1-year Honda brand insurance for the standard G version. This month, the G version continues to be offered with a 50% discount on registration fees, valued at approximately 31 million VND.

Honda BR-V

The Honda BR-V is available in Vietnam with two versions, the G and L, priced from 629 to 705 million VND. Although its price may not be the most attractive, the vehicle stands out with its beautiful SUV-like design, standard ADAS safety features, and highly-rated driving experience.

The Honda BR-V is powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC 4-cylinder DOHC gasoline engine that delivers 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a CVT continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive.

Suzuki XL7: 201 units

Similar to the Honda BR-V, the Suzuki XL7 experienced higher sales compared to the previous month. Its sales reached 201 units, a slight increase of 3%.

Suzuki XL7

In June, the Suzuki XL7 is offered with a 100% discount on registration fees, valued at 60 million VND for vehicles produced in 2024 (VIN number). For the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid with a 2025 VIN number, Suzuki applies a 50% discount on registration fees, saving customers 30 million VND.
