The December 2023 issue of the Industrial Property Gazette features information on Honda Motor Co., Ltd. registering the design patent for a new motorcycle model. This model is easily identifiable as the Wave 125i.

The Wave 125i is not a new model in the market, as private dealers have been importing it for some time. However, the design patent registration indicates a high possibility of official distribution in the near future. It is likely that Honda Vietnam will release this model under the name Future 125 FI, as a new version.

Despite the different names, the Wave 125i and Future 125 FI are almost identical in terms of design and features. The model in the report by the Vietnam Register differs slightly from the Future 125 FI in the chrome trim on the front cowl and an additional storage compartment. Additionally, the heat shield on the exhaust pipe has been slightly redesigned.

In Thailand, the Honda Wave 125i is equipped with LED taillights, similar to the main headlights. Honda Thailand has announced that the engine displacement for this model is 123.9 cc, which is slightly less than the Future 125 FI sold in Vietnam.

The Honda Wave 125i is priced in Thailand from 54,300 baht, which is approximately $1,159 USD. In Vietnam, the Honda Future 125 FI is available in three versions, with prices ranging from 30.52 million to 32.19 million VND.
