In the early hours of June 26, 2025, at approximately 1:13 am, a horrific accident occurred on Zhongshan East Road, section 500, in the Tân Ốc district of Taoyuan City, Taiwan. A surveillance camera from a nearby residence captured part of the incident.

Initial reports indicate that a 27-year-old man, Mr. Li, was driving a luxury Mercedes-Benz C-Class at a high speed on Zhongshan East Road towards Yong’an. Due to losing control of the vehicle, he crashed into a house located on the roadside.

The impact of the collision caused the car to split in two and burst into flames. A parked car and a motorcycle in front of the residence were also engulfed in the fire.

Taoyuan City police and firefighters dispatched a large contingent of 24 personnel, including 7 fire trucks and 3 ambulances, to the scene. They successfully extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes of their arrival.

According to the firefighters, the driver, Mr. Li, sustained only a 1-cm-long laceration on his right arm and minor scrapes on both knees. He remained conscious and alert when the authorities reached the scene. Two men inside the impacted house experienced shortness of breath and dizziness but were conscious and not in life-threatening condition.

No serious injuries were reported.

Debris from the Mercedes-Benz C-Class was scattered across the accident site. One half of the vehicle came to rest in front of the residence, with the engine and driver compartments ablaze, while the other half was flung into the middle of the road.

The fire affected an area of approximately 21 square meters, resulting in estimated property damage of 205,000 New Taiwan dollars (equivalent to 185 million VND). However, initial reports also indicate that the roller shutter and air conditioner of the house were destroyed, and the estimated loss of interior damage is 2 million New Taiwan dollars (equivalent to 1.81 billion VND).

The accident caused significant property damage.

Alcohol testing showed no signs of drunk driving. The police are still investigating the specific cause of the accident.
