Several drivers of trucks traveling below the minimum speed on the Van Phong – Nha Trang highway have recently been fined.
On the evening of June 26, representatives of Road Patrol and Control Team No. 6 (Team 6) of Room 6 – Department of Road Traffic Police (C08), Ministry of Public Security, announced that authorities had issued fines to several truck drivers for violating the minimum speed limit on the Van Phong – Nha Trang highway.
Specifically, at around 4:41 pm on the same day, through technical equipment, the traffic police detected a driver, L.V.N. (26 years old, from Binh Dinh), driving a truck with Ho Chi Minh City license plates at a speed of 55 km/h, while the minimum speed limit for that road segment is 60 km/h.
Driver N. was fined for “driving below the minimum speed on a road segment with a specified minimum speed.” This violation carries a fine of VND 800,000 to VND 1,000,000 according to current regulations.
Earlier, on June 24, Team 6 also recorded and handled similar cases through the technical monitoring system.
A Team 6 representative stated: “Driving too slowly on the highway not only causes traffic obstructions, especially during peak hours, but also increases the risk of accidents as other vehicles may not have enough time to react. Slow-moving vehicles can startle drivers behind them, potentially leading to chain collisions.”
Driving below the minimum speed limit not only poses an accident risk but also negatively impacts traffic culture and frustrates other drivers who are forced to overtake in unsafe conditions.
Moving forward, Team 6 will intensify inspections and strictly handle violations while promoting awareness campaigns to improve road users’ compliance on the highway.
