A serious accident occurred on Zhongshan East Road in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, when a Mercedes-Benz C-Class veered off the road, crashed into a residential building, and burst into flames.

According to surveillance footage and authorities, at around 1:13 am, a 27-year-old driver named Li was speeding in a Mercedes-Benz C-Class towards Yong’an. As the car reached the 500 block of Zhongshan East Road, it suddenly veered off the road and crashed into a house.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class split in half upon impact and immediately caught fire. The blaze also engulfed a parked car and motorcycle outside the house. The Taoyuan City Fire Department responded by deploying 24 personnel, 7 fire trucks, and 3 ambulances to the scene. The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities. The driver sustained only minor scratches and a small laceration on his right hand, while the two occupants of the house hit by the car complained of breathlessness but remained conscious and are not in life-threatening condition.

At the scene, the luxury Mercedes-Benz C-Class was completely destroyed, with half of the vehicle lying in the road and the other half burned out in front of the house. The total area affected by the fire was approximately 21 square meters. Initial estimates of the damage amount to NT$2.2 million (nearly VND 2 billion), including items such as roller shutters, air conditioners, and interior furnishings.

Alcohol testing revealed that the driver had not been drinking. The police are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident.
