Mercedes-AMG Unveils the Visionary GT XX Concept: A Glimpse into the Future of High-Performance Electric Sedans
GT XX Concept is an extraordinary electric super-sedan that showcases the brand’s ambitious electrification goals. With a unique design, impressive performance, and innovative technologies, it embodies the spirit of AMG in the era of the AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA).
The GT XX Concept boasts a futuristic design with a striking orange hue, paying homage to the iconic Mercedes C111 of the 1970s. Its aerodynamic efficiency is remarkable, achieving a drag coefficient of just 0.198 despite featuring traditional side mirrors and large wheels.
A key contributor to its aerodynamic performance is the intelligent active wheel fairings. Each wheel features five carbon fiber panels that automatically adjust during driving, optimizing airflow. Remarkably, this system is self-powered, harnessing energy from the rotation of the wheels themselves.
The interior of the GT XX features custom-molded carbon fiber sports seats with personalized cushioning, offering a truly individualized experience. The seat upholstery and interior trim are crafted from recycled tires of the GT3 race cars, with each car’s tires providing enough material. This showcases a commitment to sustainability.
The cockpit features a large display, a Yoke-style steering wheel with integrated controls, and paddle shifters, creating an aircraft-inspired driving experience.
Despite being an electric vehicle, the GT XX Concept retains the soul of AMG with its V8 engine sound simulation. This unique feature uses dual speakers integrated into the headlight compartments, projecting a powerful sound reminiscent of high-performance gasoline engines.
Under the hood, the GT XX Concept delivers an astonishing 1,340 horsepower, surpassing the Lucid Air Sapphire. Its 800V high-voltage platform enables ultra-fast charging at up to 850 kW, adding nearly 400 km of range in just 5 minutes—an impressive feat given the current limitations of fast-charging infrastructure.
The vehicle’s battery utilizes a direct-cooled cylindrical cell design, a proprietary technology that efficiently manages thermal performance during continuous high-speed driving, making it particularly suited for track use.
The GT XX Concept clearly showcases Mercedes-AMG’s vision for the future, blending bold design, groundbreaking performance, and electrification technologies built upon the all-new AMG.EA platform. With its superior performance, bold aesthetics, and rapid charging capabilities, the GT XX Concept is poised to be a formidable contender in the arena of high-performance electric sedans, rivaling the likes of the Lucid Air Sapphire and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.
