The Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security (CSGT) has announced that it will officially implement a new set of theoretical exam questions for driving license tests starting June 1st. This move aims to eliminate rote learning and encourage a more comprehensive understanding of road safety regulations.

The New 600-Question Curriculum

While the number of questions remains unchanged from the previous curriculum developed by the Ministry of Transport, the content has been thoroughly revised and updated. The new curriculum is divided into six chapters, covering a wide range of topics essential for aspiring drivers.

Chapter one comprises 180 questions on general provisions and road traffic laws, while chapter two focuses on driver ethics and culture with 25 questions. Chapters three and four delve into vehicle techniques and structure with 58 and 37 questions, respectively. Chapter five, with 185 questions, covers road signaling, and the final chapter addresses practical skills with 115 questions on track diagram and scenario handling.

Candidates for licenses in categories B, C1, and C will need to familiarize themselves with all 600 questions, including 60 critical scenarios that could result in serious safety hazards. Meanwhile, those aiming for a B1 license will focus on 300 questions, including 30 critical scenarios. For motorcycle licenses in categories A and A1, the curriculum consists of 250 questions, 20 of which are critical.

Separate Examinations for Ride-Hailing and Transport Drivers

According to the CSGT, in addition to the standard driving license exams, individuals intending to drive for ride-hailing services or engage in transport business operations will be required to undergo specialized vocational training. Upon completing the theoretical exam, which includes questions similar to the “transport business operations” chapter from the previous curriculum, these drivers will receive a professional certificate attesting to their proficiency in handling various driving scenarios and their adherence to ethical standards.
