VinFast Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Factory in Ha Tinh: A Testament to Vietnam’s Automotive Industry

Spanning an impressive 360,000 m2 and with a capacity of 200,000 vehicles per year, the VinFast Ha Tinh factory is the fifth manufacturing plant that VinFast is establishing globally. This new facility underscores the company’s rapid expansion and solidifies its position as a prominent Vietnamese automotive brand.

The inauguration ceremony of the VinFast Ha Tinh electric vehicle factory was graced by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and other esteemed leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, and Ha Tinh province.

The Ha Tinh factory is the second production base to become operational and the fifth project in VinFast’s global network of manufacturing plants. With construction and installation of workshops and machinery completed in just under seven months, VinFast Ha Tinh is recognized as one of the fastest-built automotive factories in the world to date.

The factory encompasses a total area of 360,000 m2, comprising key functional areas such as the body welding workshop, painting workshop, assembly workshop, logistics warehouse, and a quality control center. Additionally, a supporting factory cluster spanning 240,000 m2 is also under construction and will continue to expand in the coming years.

VinFast Ha Tinh is equipped with state-of-the-art production lines, boasting a high level of automation and incorporating advanced technology from leading global partners such as ABB, DÜRR, FANUC, and SIEMENS. The entire manufacturing process adheres to stringent international standards, including ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), and IATF 16949 (International Automotive Quality Management System).

In its initial phase, the factory is designed with a capacity of approximately 200,000 vehicles per year, equivalent to an average output of 35 cars per hour. The facility will undergo future expansions to increase capacity and meet market demands.

During the first phase, the VinFast Ha Tinh factory will focus on optimizing its production line by manufacturing small urban electric vehicles such as the VF 3, Minio Green, and EC Van, along with upcoming models in the development pipeline. The factory’s output will cater to both the domestic market and international export opportunities.

The factory is expected to generate approximately 6,000 direct jobs in its initial phase and can accommodate up to 15,000 employees in the future. This contributes significantly to local employment and social welfare. Moreover, the presence of VinFast Ha Tinh serves as a catalyst for attracting partner enterprises to establish factories in the industrial park, fostering a synchronized supply chain and aiming to achieve over 80% localization for electric vehicles by 2026.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Vo Trong Hai – Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee, extended his congratulations and commended the role and contributions of the VinFast Ha Tinh factory to the province’s economic development and social stability. “Today’s inauguration of the VinFast Electric Vehicle Factory affirms the strategic vision of Vingroup in developing a smart electric vehicle brand and showcases the maturity of Vietnamese enterprises in the era of green industry and digital transformation. This is not only a record-breaking achievement in terms of construction speed but also a vivid testament to the spirit of ‘thinking big, acting fast, and doing it right,’ reflecting the strong determination of Vingroup,” affirmed the Chairman of the Ha Tinh People’s Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang – Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup, shared: “The inauguration of the VinFast Ha Tinh factory marks a significant milestone in VinFast’s long-term development strategy and global production expansion. With the operation of the VinFast Ha Tinh factory, we are taking a step closer to our goal of producing 1 million vehicles per year to meet the growing demands of domestic and international markets. This also demonstrates VinFast’s capability in technology mastery, autonomous production, and our pioneering vision in driving the trend towards sustainable transportation in Vietnam and worldwide.”

In the first five months of 2025, VinFast has emerged as the leading automotive brand in Vietnam, with over 56,000 vehicles sold. The VF 3, VF 5, and VF 6 models are the top-selling vehicles in the market. VinFast electric vehicles are also gaining popularity among consumers in international markets such as the Philippines and Indonesia.

Currently, VinFast has five factories under development in Vietnam, the United States, India, and Indonesia. Apart from the two operational factories in Vietnam, namely VinFast Hai Phong and VinFast Ha Tinh, the facilities in India and Indonesia are expected to be inaugurated soon, catering to strategic international markets.
