In a recent development, a new-generation Kia Sorento was spotted at an emission testing station in Hanoi, creating a buzz among the local media and car enthusiasts.

Unlike its previous sighting last year when it was heavily camouflaged, the 2025 Kia Sorento is now fully revealed, indicating an imminent official launch in Vietnam.

In terms of design, the 2025 Sorento doesn’t undergo a complete transformation but features several improvements. The front end stands out with its new vertical LED headlights, a redesigned “tiger nose” grille, sleek vertical air intakes, and streamlined fog lights. The rear end also receives adjustments with vertical LED taillights and a design inspired by constellations.

The vehicle sports large 20-inch alloy wheels, enhancing its sporty character, along with revamped front and rear skid plates.

Inside the cabin, a prominent feature is the curved dashboard display, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central infotainment screen. This “limitless” design has been featured in recent Kia and Hyundai models.

The Kia Sorento 2025 has a slimmed-down central air vent, while the climate control panel is positioned lower. The side vents have also been simplified, creating a neater appearance.

Additionally, the Sorento boasts notable convenience features such as a hands-free power tailgate, a head-up display (HUD), and the Kia Digital Key 2 system.

It is likely that the 2025 Kia Sorento in Vietnam will retain the same engine options as its predecessor.

Firstly, the Smartstream 2.5 MPI gasoline engine with four cylinders, a 2.5L displacement, produces 177 horsepower and 232 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Secondly, the Smartstream D2.2 diesel engine, also with four cylinders and a 2.2L displacement, generates 198 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque. It is coupled with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Thirdly, a new hybrid powertrain combines a turbocharged 1.6L gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 245 horsepower and 366 Nm of torque. This setup not only offers improved performance but also enhances fuel efficiency, achieving 15.7 km/l (approximately 6.36 liters per 100 km).

Lastly, the plug-in hybrid system pairs the 1.6L gasoline engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a more powerful 90-horsepower electric motor, producing 304 Nm of torque.

With its presence at the emission testing station, one of the final steps before market release, there is anticipation that the Kia Sorento 2025 will be officially launched in Vietnam soon, possibly within July.

This 7-seater SUV is poised to be a strong competitor in its segment, going up against the likes of the Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Everest, and Mazda CX-8. With the market trending towards hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles, the Sorento is well-positioned to cater to this shift.
