In recent days, the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security (CSGT) in several provinces such as Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen, and Hanoi has announced statistics on the number of vehicles fined retrospectively in the last two weeks of May. So, how can you check if your car has been fined retrospectively?

Below are some websites and applications that allow you to look up retrospective fines using your vehicle’s license plate number.

Vietnam Registry Website

When accessing the Vietnam Registry website, vehicle owners need to go to the “Data Lookup” section and choose “Motorized Vehicle Lookup for Vehicle Owners”. Once the lookup page appears, users can enter their license plate number, inspection certificate number, and security code.

For 5-digit license plates, owners need to enter an additional letter depending on the color of the plate. For example, for the license plate number 30A12345, if it is a service vehicle (yellow plate), enter “30A12345V”, for a green plate, enter “30A12345X”, and for a white plate, enter “30A12345T”.

If the result shows a black box displaying violation information, your vehicle has been fined retrospectively and may be denied registration.

Traffic Police Department Website

Vehicle owners can access the Traffic Police Department’s website to look up retrospective fines for May. The lookup feature is located in the bottom right corner under the name “Lookup Traffic Violations through Images”. To check, users need to enter the license plate number and security code as requested.

If your vehicle has been recorded for a violation, information about the offense, time, location, and handling unit will be displayed. If there is no result, your vehicle has not been fined.

VNeTraffic Application

After opening the application, you can look up retrospective fines through the “Violation Lookup” feature displayed on the home screen. With this feature, vehicle owners only need to enter their license plate number and wait for the results.

In case your vehicle has been fined retrospectively, the application will display information about the violation, time, and location, similar to the information obtained through the Traffic Police Department’s website.

Retrospective fine records are usually notified directly to the vehicle owner within 10 days of the violation being detected. If the owner does not take action within 20 days, the information will be publicly disclosed on the Traffic Police Department’s website.
