Ford has issued five consecutive recall notices in the US last week, with two of them pertaining to potential fire hazards. As a safety precaution, the company urges drivers to immediately pull over and vacate the vehicle if they encounter unusual noises, observe smoke, or detect a burning smell.
This recall affects 1,797 vehicles from the Lincoln Corsair 2021-2023, Ford Escape (2020-2023), and Ford Maverick (2022-2023) lines. These are hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models equipped with 2.5L engines, which had been previously recalled but not properly repaired.
According to the manufacturer, oil and fuel vapor may leak into the engine compartment, accumulate, and cause a fire.
The next recall involves 6,781 vehicles, including the Lincoln Corsair (2023-2025), Ford Escape (2023-2025), Lincoln Nautilus (2024-2025), Ford Maverick 2025, and Ford Bronco Sport 2025. The engine block heater in these vehicles may overheat, posing a fire risk.
Additionally, 154 Ford Transit, F-150, and Explorer vehicles from the 2025 model year are being recalled due to a manufacturing defect in some of the connecting rods, which can result in engine failure. Ford estimates that 20% of the vehicles are affected by this issue, but a solution is yet to be determined.
On June 3, Ford announced the recall of an additional 30,679 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles from the 2024 model year due to software issues.
Finally, 192 units of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning are being recalled due to a malfunction in the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
