One of the most valuable private collections of McLaren supercars ever assembled has just been offered for sale, with an estimated total value of over $70 million.
The collection belonged to the late entrepreneur, Mansour Ojjeh, co-founder of the TAG Group, and a strategic investor in the McLaren F1 team since 1984. Ojjeh was also the architect behind the successful partnership between McLaren and TAG-Porsche, a combination that yielded three World Championships during the golden era of Alain Prost and Niki Lauda.
Not just a strategic investor, Ojjeh had a deep passion for McLaren road cars, influencing their design philosophy and high-performance spirit.
His collection comprised 20 McLarens, all of them being the last examples produced of each model, featuring final upgrades and technical tweaks. Each car bore his personal touches and was maintained by McLaren’s dedicated personalization department.
The highlight of the collection is the final McLaren F1 produced, featuring a unique orange-yellow exterior, custom-colored by McLaren at Ojjeh’s request. This car has barely been driven, covering only 1,800 km, and remains in pristine, as-new condition.
The collection also includes iconic models such as the McLaren P1 and P1 GTR, the Senna and Senna GTR, the Speedtail, Sabre, Elva, and several Longtail (LT) high-performance variants.
Most of these cars are virtually unused, with some only being started periodically and maintained to museum standards.
The collection is being offered for sale by Tom Hartley Jnr, one of Europe’s most renowned supercar dealers. Mr. Hartley stated that the Ojjeh family wishes to find a single buyer to preserve the collection’s integrity and value.
The collection’s value stems not just from the limited production numbers and pristine condition of the cars but also from their association with the man who helped shape McLaren. It is considered one of the most valuable and comprehensive private McLaren collections ever to come to market.
With an estimated value exceeding $70 million, collectors believe this collection could rival some of the most legendary supercar collections in history.
