“AI Technology and Its Ethical Conundrums: Striking a Balance Between Creativity and Misinformation”

With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Midjourney are gaining popularity, offering unprecedented creative possibilities for image and content generation.

However, alongside these exciting opportunities comes a troubling downside. Recently, social media users have been exploiting AI to create deceptive images and scenarios, sharing them publicly as if they were genuine.

It is not uncommon to stumble upon AI-generated images on social media platforms, where ordinary individuals are depicted alongside luxury cars, donning designer outfits, or standing in glamorous settings. Notably, some images even incorporate police traffic officers in action, creating the impression of a real traffic violation taking place.

These images are often crafted with familiar city landmarks, making them highly believable and prone to misinterpretation. While some content creators admit to these fabrications as mere entertainment to garner engagement, it is essential to understand that superimposing law enforcement officers into fictitious scenarios, regardless of intent, can have severe repercussions.

Not only does this practice disseminate misinformation, but it also directly tarnishes the reputation of law enforcement agencies. In the digital realm, where information spreads rapidly and widely, such deceptive visuals can easily erode public trust in our authorities.

According to Decree 15/2020/ND-CP, providing or sharing false information, especially when it defames organizations or individuals associated with the People’s Police, can result in hefty administrative fines. If the consequences are severe, criminal liability may come into play.

The virtual world is not exempt from legal scrutiny. In an era where AI can seamlessly generate images, voices, and narratives, content moderation is more crucial than ever. Users cannot hide behind the guise of “entertainment” to justify disseminating misleading information, particularly when it impugns the honor of organizations or individuals or causes social unrest.

The utilization of AI demands ethical and legal boundaries. Individuals must exercise heightened awareness and responsibility when creating content, especially when dealing with visuals that can be misleading or distort reality. As AI continues to advance, the line between “experimenting with technology” and “breaking the law” is becoming increasingly blurred.
