After a period of cautious strategizing, Subaru is reportedly accelerating its global electrification strategy with vigor.
The next step in this journey will be marked by the introduction of a new all-electric crossover, the Subaru Uncharted 2026, which is set to make its global debut on July 17.
Positioned with the message, “ready for your next adventure,” the vehicle is clearly aimed at the vibrant, youthful market—a demographic increasingly interested in electric vehicles, both in urban and suburban settings.
Based on the official teaser image released by Subaru, the rear design bears a resemblance to the Solterra – the brand’s first electric SUV, co-developed with the Toyota bZ4X. It features sleek LED taillights, a sharp rear window, and bold “SUBARU” lettering on the tailgate. Additionally, the roof is painted in a contrasting black, complemented by a dual-wing spoiler and prominent character lines that accentuate its sporty, modern aesthetic.

The Uncharted shares several design cues with the new Toyota C-HR, sparking speculation that it could be another collaborative effort between Subaru and Toyota, similar to the Solterra and bZ4X.
While Subaru has not yet released official specifications for the Uncharted, according to international sources, it is expected to be slightly larger than the Toyota C-HR, measuring over 4,500 mm in length, with a wheelbase of approximately 2,750 mm. These dimensions are comparable to the Toyota Corolla Cross, placing it in the C-segment crossover category, larger than the Yaris Cross currently available in Vietnam.
If the Subaru Uncharted is indeed based on the electric platform of the Toyota C-HR, it is likely to feature a 77 kWh battery pack. The predicted AWD (all-wheel drive) system, powered by dual electric motors, could deliver an impressive combined output of 338 horsepower. This setup enables a swift 0-60 mph sprint in around 5 seconds, coupled with an estimated range of up to 290 miles on a single charge.

The Uncharted 2026 is not just a new offering but also plays a pivotal role in Subaru’s energy transition strategy. Previously, the Japanese brand had been perceived as a late entrant into the EV race, with the Solterra being their sole commercial electric vehicle.
However, since 2023, Subaru has unveiled ambitious plans to introduce at least eight electric vehicles by 2028. With a focus on urban SUVs and crossovers, they aim to capitalize on the strong growth trends in markets like the US, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
“Nissan to Export ‘Made in China’ Electric Vehicles to Southeast Asia”
Nissan has unveiled its plans to commence exports of electric vehicles manufactured in China to Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern markets from 2026 onwards. This strategic move underscores Nissan’s commitment to expanding its global presence and catering to the growing demand for electric vehicles in these regions.
