The Mazda EZ-60, an all-new electric crossover, has garnered an impressive 33,000 orders within just three months of its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The overwhelming response can be attributed not only to its design and technology but also to its extremely low deposit policy. Customers only need to pay 10 Chinese yuan (approximately 35,000 VND) to secure an early delivery and accumulate credit points. This incredibly low deposit encourages early registration without requiring a significant financial commitment.

This strategy has created a significant market buzz for the Mazda EZ-60 even before its official launch. The vehicle is expected to be available in China from September 2025.

The Mazda EZ-60 is the SUV-crossover variant of the EZ-6 electric sedan, both produced by the Changan-Mazda joint venture in China. For the European market, the corresponding versions will be named the Mazda CX-6e and Mazda 6e.

The Mazda EZ-60 is built on the platform of the Changan Deepal S07 but features distinct Mazda design elements inspired by the 2024 Mazda Arata concept. It boasts sharp, dual LED headlights that hug the closed grille, creating a sporty and modern aesthetic.

The EZ-60’s interior marks a significant evolution in Mazda’s design philosophy, integrating a host of advanced technologies. The centerpiece is a massive 26.5-inch widescreen display, complemented by a 100-inch augmented reality (AR) head-up display (HUD). The vehicle also features a digital rearview mirror, a 23-speaker audio system, and seats with heating and ventilation functions, typically found in luxury vehicles.

In its all-electric configuration, the Mazda EZ-60 is powered by a motor generating 255 horsepower, enabling it to reach a top speed of 115 mph (185 km/h). The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version combines this electric motor with a 1.5L gasoline engine, extending the total range to over 800 miles (1,300 km) on a single charge and tank of fuel.

In parallel with the Changan collaboration models, Mazda is also developing its electric vehicle platform, slated for release in 2027. This platform will be produced in Japan, utilizing batteries from Panasonic, and will share a production line with the company’s hybrid and internal combustion engine vehicles.

This strategy underscores Mazda’s accelerated electrification efforts, combining joint venture products for key markets like China with in-house-developed electric vehicles to maintain global competitiveness during the automotive technology transition.
