Hybrid vehicles are gaining traction among Vietnamese consumers due to their smooth performance, fuel efficiency, and environmental friendliness.

According to a report by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), hybrid vehicle sales in the first six months of 2025 reached 5,658 units, a 64.1% increase compared to the same period last year (3,448 units).

Notably, Toyota remains the leading brand in the segment, with three models in the top five best-selling hybrid vehicles in Vietnam. The other two spots are occupied by Honda and Suzuki.

Here is a list of the top five best-selling hybrid vehicles in Vietnam for the first half of 2025:

Toyota Innova Cross HEV: 1,313 units

Toyota’s mid-sized MPV continues to lead the pack with 1,313 hybrid units sold, accounting for 38.1% of the total sales of 3,445 Innova Cross vehicles.

The Innova Cross was introduced in Vietnam in October 2023 with two variants: 2.0 V (gasoline, priced at 810 million VND) and 2.0 HEV (hybrid, priced at 990 million VND), both imported from Indonesia.

The Toyota Innova Cross Hybrid is equipped with a 2.0L gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 186 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. It features a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) for a smooth driving experience and superior fuel efficiency compared to traditional MPVs.

Toyota Corolla Cross HEV: 1,194 units

Ranking second in the best-selling HEV list is the Corolla Cross HEV, with 1,194 units sold, accounting for 32.6% of the total Corolla Cross sales.

The Corolla Cross is the first mass-market vehicle in Vietnam to offer a hybrid option, launched in August 2020. In May 2024, it was refreshed with two variants: 1.8 V and 1.8 HEV, priced at 820 and 905 million VND, respectively.

The Toyota Corolla Cross HEV features a premium hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.8L engine with an electric motor, generating a total output of 122 horsepower.

Suzuki XL7 Hybrid: 1,193 units

For the first six months of 2025, Suzuki XL7 Hybrid recorded sales of 1,193 units, just one unit shy of the Corolla Cross HEV.

The XL7 Hybrid was launched in late August 2024 as a fully imported model from Indonesia. It is offered in a single variant.

The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid is powered by a 1.5L gasoline engine combined with a mild-hybrid system, producing 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. It comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission, providing simple operation, fuel efficiency, and suitability for daily urban commuting.

Honda CR-V RS e:HEV: 877 units

With 877 units sold in the first half of 2025, the Honda CR-V RS e:HEV secured the fourth position in the best-selling hybrid vehicles list.

The Honda CR-V RS e:HEV sold in Vietnam is imported from Thailand. It is equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged engine combined with two electric motors, delivering a total output of 204 horsepower. The 7-seat SUV features a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and is priced in the higher range of its segment, starting at 1.259 billion VND.

Toyota Camry HEV: 685 units

In the first six months of 2025, 685 units of the Toyota Camry hybrid were delivered to Vietnamese customers, accounting for 58.9% of Camry’s total sales.

The 2025 Camry was launched in late October 2024 with three variants: 2.0 Q gasoline (priced at 1.22 billion VND), 2.5 HEV MID (1.46 billion VND), and 2.5 HEV TOP (1.53 billion VND).

The Toyota Camry HEV is powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.5L gasoline engine with an electric motor, resulting in a total output of 225 horsepower and a maximum torque of 221 Nm. This powertrain is paired with an e-CVT transmission and front-wheel drive.
