Suzuki Vietnam has taken to its official fanpage to announce that the new generation of the Suzuki Swift will be unveiled to customers on June 26.

This marks the return of the Suzuki Swift to the B-segment hatchback market in Vietnam after almost a year of absence. Back in the third quarter of 2024, the Japanese automaker quietly discontinued the Swift from its passenger car lineup in the country.

The new Suzuki Swift sports a refreshed exterior, notably featuring LED projector headlights positioned lower and redesigned, alongside a smaller black gloss-finished grille.

Dimension-wise, the Suzuki Swift measures 3,860 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width, 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm and a ground clearance of 115 mm.

A notable difference in the body of the new Suzuki Swift is the placement of the rear door handles. The taillights also feature a new design, and the Swift continues to sport a rear spoiler with an integrated brake light.

Inside the cockpit, the new Suzuki Swift will feature a 4.2-inch LCD instrument cluster behind the three-spoke steering wheel. A floating 9-inch central infotainment screen takes center stage. The car still employs a manual handbrake and is equipped with automatic air conditioning.

Under the hood, the Suzuki Swift of this generation employs a 1.2L inline-three engine, generating a maximum power of 83 horsepower and a peak torque of 112 Nm. The Smart Hybrid system includes a 2.9-horsepower ISG motor, helping the car achieve a fuel economy of approximately 4.9 liters per 100 kilometers.

The B-segment hatchback market in Vietnam is relatively sparse at the moment. The Mazda2 Sport (priced between 537 and 544 million VND) and the BYD Dolphin (659 million VND) are among the few remaining options since the discontinuation of the Suzuki Swift and Toyota Yaris.

Prior to its temporary withdrawal from the Vietnamese market, the Suzuki Swift was imported from Thailand and retailed at 560 million VND. However, with the new generation sourced from Japan instead of Thailand, the price of the Swift is expected to increase significantly.

In 2024, Suzuki Swift sold 225 units in Vietnam, making it the second-lowest-selling Suzuki passenger car in the country, just above the Suzuki Ciaz, which sold only 8 units before being discontinued by the Japanese automaker.
