With the Vietnamese government’s recent policies tightening restrictions on internal combustion engine motorcycles, the demand for reasonably priced electric motorcycles in Hanoi is rapidly increasing.

According to the Prime Minister’s directive on July 12, motorcycles and motor tricycles using fossil fuels will be banned from circulating in Hanoi’s Ring Road 1 area from July 2026. The next phase will expand the ban to Ring Road 2 from January 2028, and to the entire Ring Road 3 area by 2030.

This policy is part of a national strategy to reduce air pollution, improve quality of life, and promote the transition to environmentally friendly transportation in large cities.

In response to these significant policy changes, consumers in Hanoi and other urban areas have quickly shifted their preferences towards electric motorcycles. In the price range of under VND 40 million, several models stand out for their design, technology, and reliability in operation. Some notable examples include:

VinFast Klara Neo: This model offers a sleek design appealing to a wide range of users, especially students and office workers. It is equipped with a 2 kWh LFP battery, providing a range of approximately 112 km on a single charge and a maximum speed of 60 km/h. It is currently priced at VND 28.8 million.

VinFast Evo200 Lite: The Evo200 Lite targets students or those new to electric vehicles, with a maximum speed limited to under 50 km/h. Despite its affordable price point, the Evo200 Lite features a durable 3.5 kWh LFP battery and a smart connectivity system. It has a youthful and lightweight design, suitable for both men and women, and is priced at VND 22 million.

VinFast Vento Neo: Priced at approximately VND 32 million, the Vento Neo is positioned higher than the Klara Neo. It sports a sporty and dynamic design, appealing to young and modern customers. It boasts a more powerful engine, delivering a maximum speed of up to 78 km/h. It supports fast charging within 4 hours and offers a range of up to 194 km per charge.

Yadea Velax H: The Velax H is priced under VND 30 million. It offers a range of 80-129 km per charge and a maximum speed of 64 km/h.

Yadea Ossy: This model is available for approximately VND 19.9 million. It features a simple, user-friendly design and a maximum speed of under 50 km/h for added safety.

Yamaha Neo’s: This urban electric scooter has a stylish design inspired by European scooters. It is priced at over VND 49 million and offers a range of up to 72 km per charge.

Honda Icon e: This model boasts a modern and premium design, coupled with a range of advanced safety features. It is equipped with a lithium-ion battery that is anti-explosion, IP67 waterproof, and easily detachable for flexible charging options. With a maximum speed of 48 km/h and a range of 71 km per 8-hour charge, it caters to the short-distance travel needs of young urbanites. It is offered in three versions, starting from VND 26.9 million.

Honda CUV e: Featuring a youthful and compact design, the Honda CUV e is targeted at students and urban residents. Instead of being sold, it is offered as a rental service for VND 1.5 million per month. It provides a range of approximately 73 km per charge and a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

Today’s electric motorcycles offer more than just affordable prices. Many models now come with digital displays, LED lighting systems, and Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, low operating costs (no fuel expenses and minimal maintenance) and extended warranty policies make electric motorcycles even more attractive.

Furthermore, flexible approaches such as monthly electric motorcycle rental services (like the Honda CUV e) are gaining popularity among young people and office workers who may not be ready for long-term vehicle ownership.

By transitioning to electric motorcycles early, users can not only adapt to the upcoming ban on gasoline vehicles in Hanoi but also benefit from long-term cost savings.
