Indonesia is the first market to receive the Destinator model, as Mitsubishi expands its distribution to Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. The company chose the 2025 Indonesia International Auto Show GIIAS as the venue to announce the official pricing, with converted prices for the three versions being 617 million, 650 million, and 745 million VND, respectively.

The starting price of 385 million IDR (nearly 24,000 USD) for the Destinator in Indonesia is considered competitive compared to its rivals in the same segment. Specifically, the Honda CR-V 1.5 Turbo is priced at around 35,000 USD in regional markets, while the Hyundai Tucson and Mazda CX-5 range from 28,000 to 33,000 USD. With the announced price, the Destinator has the advantage of a lower entry point while still offering premium features such as a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ADAS, and a 1.5L turbocharged engine.

The Mitsubishi Destinator is officially priced from 617 million VND in Indonesia, with an expected price of over 750 million VND in Vietnam

The Destinator is a C-segment high-riding vehicle, featuring a true 7-seat configuration instead of the 5+2 layout offered by many of its competitors in the same segment, such as the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, or Ford Territory. With its spacious three-row seating, the Destinator targets families who require long-distance travel or flexible passenger space.

In the Vietnamese market, Mitsubishi has not yet officially announced the launch date and pricing for the Destinator. However, according to plans, the model will be introduced by the end of 2025. If the company maintains its competitive pricing strategy from Indonesia, the Mitsubishi Destinator is expected to start at around 750 million VND for the base model and reach nearly 900 million VND for the highest trim in Vietnam. This pricing strategy, if implemented, would make the Destinator a compelling choice in the 5+2 CUV segment, especially for customers seeking a true 7-seater without upgrading to a large SUV. Of course, these prices are just predictions.

Local assembly (if applicable) or import tax incentives from the ASEAN region will also play a crucial role in maintaining Mitsubishi’s price advantage. With the increasing demand for 7-seater vehicles, especially in large cities and developing areas, the Destinator could become an attractive new contender in an already highly competitive segment.

With its clear positioning, accessible pricing, and features that cater to regional preferences, the Mitsubishi Destinator is expected to continue the success of its predecessors, the Xpander and Xforce, both of which were also born from the Indonesian market.
