Lamborghini reaffirms its commitment to internal combustion engines (ICE), despite the prevailing electrification trend in the automotive industry.
According to CarExpert, Lamborghini’s Technical Director, Rouven Mohr, asserted that the Italian brand has numerous ideas to explore the untapped potential of ICEs. He believes that these engines offer an unparalleled level of “peak emotion” that electric vehicles struggle to match.
Two years ago, Lamborghini surprised the world with the unveiling of the Lanzador Concept, which has since been delayed until 2029.
Subsequently, the brand introduced hybrid variants of the Revuelto and Temerario, as well as the Huracan, instead of going fully electric. This strategy complies with European emission standards while retaining their iconic V8 and V12 engines.
Lamborghini faces the challenge of electrifying its product range while preserving its iconic powertrain. If hybridization is not the chosen path, the brand may opt for synthetic fuels (e-fuels) in the future to avoid a complete shift to electric vehicles.
Currently, Lamborghini has no plans to expand its product range. According to the brand, the Urus is sold out until 2026, and the Revuelto until 2027. The “Raging Bull” brand concluded the previous year with a record-breaking sales figure of 10,687 units.
