According to international media, a new-generation Venza is in the works, with a planned commercial launch in 2027. It is expected to be a coupe-style SUV, anticipated to match or surpass the sales of the RAV4 in the US.

Best Car has revealed details about the development of the new Harrier in Japan, paving the way for the return of the Venza in the US. The new Venza is expected to have a longer wheelbase, approximately 2,770 mm, an increase of 80 mm compared to its predecessor. Toyota may also design the new Venza with a sleeker, more modern SUV coupe-like roofline.

In terms of interior, Japanese media reports suggest that the new Venza will feature a more modern cabin than the RAV4, highlighted by a large 12.9-inch central infotainment screen and the latest over-the-air update capability.

The new Venza is expected to retain Toyota’s familiar TNGA-K platform, which is also used on popular SUVs such as the RAV4, Grand Highlander, and Lexus NX, RX, and TX. The vehicle may be powered by a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired with an electric motor for hybrid or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants. Specific details about the Venza’s powertrain are not yet available, but if it follows the RAV4, the hybrid model could offer up to 236 horsepower, while the plug-in hybrid version may produce up to 320 horsepower.

The Venza was a popular SUV in North America during 2020-2021. It was a rebadged version of the Toyota Harrier sold in Japan, featuring a design reminiscent of Lexus models. However, in 2024, Toyota unexpectedly discontinued the Venza in the US to focus their resources on the best-selling RAV4 SUV.
