According to Carscoops, two Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the US are embroiled in a legal battle after a Mercedes-AMG G63 mysteriously vanished during transit.

Specifically, the Laredo Mercedes-Benz dealership in Texas was the selling dealer, while the Loeber Motors dealership in Illinois was the purchaser of the high-performance SUV, amounting to almost 350,000 USD. Post-transaction, the Texas-based dealer arranged for transportation along with the necessary paperwork.

Per Auto News, the shipping company arrived to pick up the Mercedes-AMG G63, only for the luxury SUV to disappear a few days later.

The Laredo Mercedes-Benz dealership in Texas was taken aback by this turn of events but admitted that, approximately three days prior, their staff had handed over the car keys to an “unidentified individual.”

It remains unclear who this person was, what documentation was provided, how they knew about the inter-dealer transaction, and the specifics of the car handover process.

Loeber Motors is reportedly working through the court system to recoup their funds, as the selling dealer in Texas allegedly refused to reimburse them. The charges indicate that the selling dealer’s director conceded, “We messed up.”

Earlier in February, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan was confirmed stolen while in transit, and a Rolls-Royce Ghost disappeared in a similar fashion. According to Carscoops, these recent incidents indicate that this type of theft is not without precedent within the luxury car dealership system.

Auto News reports that a Mercedes-Benz dealership in New Jersey is also pursuing a lawsuit against another dealer in South Carolina regarding the disappearance of a GLE valued at 75,216 USD. They question how a driver named John Doe from Doe Enterprises was able to take possession of the vehicle without intervention.

Additionally, Twin Cities Performance is suing Bentley Denver and the shipping company Angel Moving Cars following the purchase of a Ferrari Roma. In a similar pattern, a transporter appeared and subsequently vanished with the vehicle.
