According to Carscoops, the Toyota Prius 2026 has increased in price by USD 200 compared to its predecessor, while the Prius Prime PHEV version will also see a USD 400 hike. In the coming month, models from both Toyota and Lexus will witness significant price increases.

Citing Reuters, sources indicate that the average price hike for Toyota vehicles in the US will be approximately USD 270 starting from July. Similarly, the luxury brand Lexus will also adjust its prices, albeit with a slightly lower average increase of about USD 208.

While detailed information is yet to be disclosed, Toyota’s leadership in the US refutes any direct connection between the price hike and tariffs. Instead, a Toyota spokesperson affirms that the price increase is part of the regular price adjustments implemented by the Japanese automaker.

Per Carscoops, Toyota’s statement likely aims to sidestep potential criticism from President Donald Trump. Earlier this year, Walmart attributed price increases to tariffs, prompting the President to emphasize that companies should refrain from using tariffs as an excuse for raising prices.

“Companies should absorb the tariffs and not pass them on to consumers,” quoted Carscoops from President Trump’s statement. As a result, despite the impact of tariffs, many companies, including US automakers, have refrained from citing them as a reason for price increases.
