Serious Car Fire Erupts in Hoa Long Apartment Area, Bac Ninh City, Bac Ninh Province, on July 23rd Morning

A Peugeot 3008 suddenly caught fire while parked in the building’s parking lot. The fire spread quickly, almost completely engulfing the vehicle and affecting a nearby parked car.

Upon receiving the report, the local fire department promptly arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Immediately after learning about the incident, Thaco – the official distributor of the Peugeot brand in Vietnam, stated that this was the first Peugeot car fire in 12 years since the French automaker returned to the Vietnamese market in 2013. Thaco confirmed that they had sent personnel to the site to coordinate with the car owner and authorities to clarify the cause of the incident.

Thaco also reported the incident to Peugeot headquarters to prepare for technical support if requested by the investigating authorities.

The specific cause of the fire is still under investigation by the authorities.

Car fires can originate from various technical and environmental issues, so it is crucial for users to pay attention to preventive measures to ensure safety. Firstly, regularly inspecting the engine compartment and electrical system is essential, especially for cars often parked outdoors, where there is a risk of rodents chewing through wires, leading to electrical faults and potential fires during ignition.

Users should also avoid leaving objects such as plastic or glass bottles in the car, especially with a sunroof and prolonged exposure to sunlight. These objects can act as a magnifying glass, concentrating sunlight and causing localized fires in the cabin.

Periodic undercarriage cleaning and inspections are necessary, as dry leaves and straw can get caught during drives through rural areas or complex terrains. Combined with long-term oil and grease buildup, these factors can easily lead to fires, especially in older car models.

Lastly, users should proactively maintain their vehicles at authorized dealerships to detect and address electrical or fuel leaks promptly, as these are potential safety hazards.
