The Vietnamese automotive market is seeing a decrease in the availability of small cars; however, there is still a good range of affordable options. For around VND 400 million, Vietnamese customers can choose from city cars, electric vehicles, or even sedans.

Mazda2 – from VND 403 million

According to the official website, Mazda offers the Thailand-imported B-segment sedan starting at VND 403 million.

Speaking to Tri Thức – Znews, Mr. Dac Khoa, a sales consultant at a Mazda dealership in Ho Chi Minh City, confirmed that both the sedan and Sport variants of the Mazda2 are being offered with discounts this July.

“The highest discount of VND 15 million is for the Mazda2 1.5AT version. Other versions have lower discounts,” he said.

Specifically, the 1.5 Deluxe version has a discount of VND 6 million, bringing the price to VND 453 million. The 1.5 Luxury version of the Mazda2 sedan is offered with a VND 7 million discount, resulting in a price of VND 487 million.

For the Sport variant of the Mazda2, the Luxury version has a discount of VND 8 million. This brings the price down to VND 529 million for Vietnamese customers.

According to the sales consultant, the promotion applies to 2025-produced Mazda2 vehicles.

Positioned in the B-segment sedan category, the Mazda2 competes with a range of Korean and Japanese cars, including the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, Honda City, Mitsubishi Attrage, and Kia Soluto.

In the first five months of the year, the Mazda2 achieved sales of 1,935 units, equivalent to an average monthly sales figure of 387 units.

Toyota Wigo and Hyundai Grand i10 – VND 405 million

The group of A-segment hatchbacks in Vietnam is losing its appeal, with the number of models decreasing to just three. Some versions of the Kia Morning and Toyota Wigo have also been discontinued by their respective manufacturers.

For around VND 405 million, Vietnamese customers can currently choose between the Toyota Wigo G version and the Hyundai Grand i10 1.2 AT Standard (hatchback variant).


Both models are equipped with a 1.2L naturally aspirated gasoline engine. The Toyota Wigo produces 87 horsepower, while the Hyundai Grand i10 generates 83 horsepower.

The Wigo features full LED headlights, while the Grand i10 still uses halogen bulbs. In the cockpit, both models come with fabric seats, but the Grand i10 in this version does not have a central touch screen.

At this price point, the Toyota Wigo offers more advanced safety features than the Hyundai Grand i10, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Overall, at this price, customers can purchase the highest trim level of the Toyota Wigo, but the Hyundai Grand i10 is only available in the mid-range version of the hatchback variant.

Despite these shortcomings, the Hyundai Grand i10 remains the best-selling model in the A-segment. In the first five months of the year, the Hyundai Grand i10 sold 1,403 units, while the Toyota Wigo sold 962 units.

Wuling Bingo – VND 399 million

As one of the newest urban electric vehicle options in Vietnam, the Wuling Bingo currently offers two versions, mainly differentiated by their range. The 333 km range version is the most affordable option in the Wuling Bingo lineup, priced at VND 399 million.

Positioned in the A-segment hatchback category, the Wuling Bingo is a direct competitor to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles such as the Toyota Wigo, Hyundai Grand i10, and Kia Morning in Vietnam.


The front of the vehicle features full LED headlights, with a minimalist design characterized by rounded lines. The interior includes synthetic leather seats, a dual-screen dashboard, an electronic gear selector, and an electronic parking brake.

The Wuling Bingo is powered by an electric motor that produces 67 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque. The LFP battery pack has a capacity of 31.9 kWh and provides a maximum range of 333 km on a single charge, as per the CLTC cycle.

Overall, the Wuling Bingo offers competitive pricing compared to its gasoline-powered rivals. However, infrastructure limitations and brand perception may hinder its popularity in Vietnam.

New MG5 – VND 399 million

Despite being a C-segment sedan, the New MG5 is priced below VND 400 million, which is equivalent to or less than some A-segment cars in Vietnam.

The New MG5 features halogen headlights, with LED positioning lights and taillights. The wheels have a simple design, with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

The interior of the New MG5 includes fabric-upholstered seats, an 8-inch entertainment screen, and a four-speaker audio system.


It is powered by a 1.5L gasoline engine that produces 113 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque. The car comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and is equipped with two airbags, an ABS/EBD braking system, and a reverse camera and sensors.

Despite its attractive pricing, the New MG5’s sparse features make it less appealing to family car buyers. Instead, it is often chosen by those looking for a vehicle for transportation services.
