Ford Vietnam has recently initiated the installation of DC fast-charging stations at its dealerships nationwide.

This strategic move is a crucial step in preparing the infrastructure before Ford Vietnam officially launches its first electric vehicle, the Mustang Mach-E, on August 15.

The charging stations at the dealerships will not only support Mach-E owners but also demonstrate Ford’s long-term commitment to the Vietnamese electric vehicle market. The combination of the Mach-E and Ford’s charging network is expected to further energize the already vibrant electric vehicle segment.

Alongside Ford, Geely is also establishing an electric vehicle charging network in Vietnam. Entering the market earlier this year, the company aims to install 50 stations in major cities and key transport hubs, with completion expected by September.

VinFast has been a pioneer in Vietnam in building a nationwide network of electric vehicle charging stations. Some domestic manufacturers and assemblers, such as Thaco Auto and TMT Motor, are also accelerating their efforts in this field. In contrast, most Chinese automakers entering the Vietnamese market choose to partner with third-party charging system providers.

The involvement of Ford and Geely is anticipated to expand the electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the country. Notably, Ford Vietnam, a longstanding brand with a significant market share, has decided to venture into the electric vehicle market and develop its charging system, indicating their positive outlook on the domestic electric vehicle sector’s growth potential.
