Honda has recently announced a price adjustment for the 2025 Civic Type R, along with the introduction of a new Racing Blue paint option, replacing the previous Rally Red color.
The 2025 Honda Civic Type R remains unchanged from its predecessor, except for the new paint option. In addition to Racing Blue, customers can still choose from traditional colors including Championship White, Crystal Black, and Sonic Grey.
Powering the car is the same 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine, delivering 315 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive.
In the Australian market, the 2025 Honda Civic Type R will see a price increase of at least AUD 4,900 (approximately 84 million VND) compared to the most recent price, and a total increase of approximately 110 million VND since its launch in 2023.
In Vietnam, Honda Vietnam also adjusted the price of the Civic Type R in January 2025, increasing it from 2.399 billion VND to 2.999 billion VND, a hike of 600 million VND despite no changes in specifications. With this price, the Civic Type R has even surpassed the Mercedes-AMG C 43, a high-performance sedan from Germany that offers more power, all-wheel drive, and rear-wheel steering technology.
Despite its premium price tag, the Civic Type R remains highly sought-after due to its extremely limited availability. In Vietnam, most of the cars are sold even before they arrive in the country. A similar situation occurred in Australia in 2023, when the Civic Type R “FL5” sold out within 24 hours of the order books opening. Honda is continuing this “first-come, first-served” approach, prioritizing customers who register early on their official website.
However, the future of the Civic Type R globally is facing challenges. In Europe, stringent emission regulations have led Honda to introduce the Ultimate Edition, limited to just 40 units, effectively bidding farewell to the market.
This scarcity has fueled the hunt for the Civic Type R, driving up prices in the used car market. With its unique position as a high-performance hot hatch, the 2025 Civic Type R is expected to spark a “race” for the car in many countries, including Vietnam.
