Lexus recently took the wraps off its stunning Sports Concept, a preview of what we can expect from the upcoming Lexus LFR.
The concept draws design inspiration from the iconic LFA and the sleek LC500, showcasing the brand’s future design language for its sports cars.
While technical details are scarce, Lexus confirmed that the concept will be powered by a front-mounted twin-turbocharged V8 engine, paired with a rear-wheel-drive configuration and likely a rear transaxle transmission, a setup renowned for its optimal weight distribution.
Toyota is also planning a similar model, although it won’t be sold in the US market. Interestingly, this concept will serve as the foundation for the upcoming Toyota GT3 race car.
Sports Concept boasts bold aerodynamic features, including an eye-catching exhaust system positioned beneath the rear spoiler, delivering both visual impact and a true supercar spirit. The massive rear diffuser echoes the legendary LFA, while the rear window air intakes are designed to cool the brakes or transmission. A unique touch is the integrated rear brake light with four small fans, a rare feature on production cars that showcases Lexus’ creative ambition.
Notably, the concept lacks a finished interior, and the tires are devoid of any branding except for the Bridgestone logo.
Lexus revealed that the concept was developed with reference to the Mercedes-AMG GT R, one of the most successful front-engine, rear transaxle sports cars of the last decade.
