The Blueshark SoloEra Solo 1C electric scooter is turning heads with its affordable price tag of just RM599 (approximately $135) in Southeast Asia.

This price is lower than that of a mid-range smartphone, prompting over 6,000 customers to place their orders quickly.

In reality, the Solo 1C’s selling price of RM599 (around $135) is only applicable when the buyer participates in the MARiiCas initiative—a green transportation support program in Malaysia. As a result, customers receive a direct discount of RM2,400 (about $550) from the original price of RM2,999 (approx. $700). However, there are some mandatory conditions: the buyer must be a Malaysian citizen aged 18 or above, hold a valid B2 motorcycle license, and agree to a 5-year battery rental contract.

Customers will pay RM59 ($14) per month for the battery rental package and RM10 ($2.3) per month for the connectivity service. Even with the battery rental cost included, the total amount users pay monthly is still relatively low, and in return, they get a practical electric scooter with an extremely low initial cost.

The SoloEra Solo 1C is positioned as an urban electric scooter, targeting the mass market. In terms of appearance, the scooter has a similar design to many other electric scooter models on the market, nothing too flashy but still adequate for daily commuting needs.

Weighing just 48 kg, it’s easy to handle yet capable of carrying a maximum load of 220 kg, accommodating two adults and luggage. The SoloEra Solo 1C comes in three color options: Lunar White, Nebula Blue, and Nova Orange, catering to the tastes of younger customers.

The Solo 1C features a pair of 12-inch wheels with 100/70 tires and a CBS disc brake system. This system not only enhances safety during emergency braking but also provides a more stable riding experience for users.

Additionally, the scooter comes with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to link their smartphones to perform functions such as locking/unlocking the scooter, activating theft alarms, and locating the vehicle. This feature is typically found on premium electric scooters, but Blueshark has brought it to the affordable segment.

A notable feature of the Solo 1C is its removable LFP 70.4V 28 Ah battery, which users can conveniently take indoors for charging. It takes approximately 4 hours to fully charge the battery using a household power source. According to the manufacturer, the battery enables the scooter to achieve a maximum range of 101 km under the NEDC standard.

Powering the scooter is a 2.6 horsepower motor that delivers a top speed of 75 km/h and a range of 101 km under the NEDC standard. The scooter offers four driving modes, including three forward speeds and one reverse gear, along with the ability to climb slopes of up to 16 degrees.

Blueshark states that the Solo 1C is just the beginning of the SoloEra series, which will include the upcoming Solo 2 and Solo 3 models. The latter two versions are expected to offer higher power outputs and extended ranges, targeting customers who desire a more adventurous experience beyond urban areas.
