Suzuki Vietnam is not offering any official promotions for their vehicles in August 2025, a contrast to previous months. However, dealerships are offering their own incentives, particularly for the Suzuki Jimny.
Dealerships are currently offering a discount of up to 80 million VND for the small SUV, affectionately known as the “mini Mercedes-Benz G-Class.” This is not the deepest discount offered since its launch in Vietnam, as some dealerships were selling it for as low as 700 million VND back in March, a discount of nearly 90 million VND.
Dealerships offer generous discounts on the Suzuki Jimny despite the lack of official promotions.
The Suzuki Jimny, launched in Vietnam in March 2024, has not seen impressive sales figures. In the first seven months of this year, only 161 units were sold, consistently ranking among the 10 worst-selling cars in the country.
The Suzuki Jimny’s poor sales performance in Vietnam is not surprising. The vehicle is priced at 789 million VND, which is high considering its small size and modest features. Additionally, it is imported from Japan in limited quantities.
With a price tag comparable to C-segment SUVs like the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Ford Territory, the Suzuki Jimny only offers the size of a B-segment car and a compact 4-seat interior. Its features are basic, including LED headlights, 15-inch alloy wheels, a spare tire mounted on the tailgate, an analog instrument cluster with a small multi-information display, a grab handle for the front passenger on the dashboard, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Autolink, USB, and Bluetooth Control Music Play.
The Suzuki Jimny’s niche positioning and high price contribute to its limited appeal in Vietnam.
Under the hood, the Suzuki Jimny is powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 101 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque, the same engine found in the Suzuki XL7. This engine is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a part-time four-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case. The vehicle also offers the flexibility to switch between two-wheel and four-wheel drive.
Aside from the Jimny, Suzuki’s passenger car lineup in Vietnam includes the Swift and XL7. The Fronx is expected to join the range later this year.
