Powering the 300 SL is a 3.0L inline-6 engine producing approximately 243 horsepower. At its launch, this engine enabled the car to reach a top speed of nearly 260 km/h, making it the fastest production car in the world at the time. More than half a century later, this feat still stands as a testament to Mercedes’ pioneering role in sports car technology.
