The Maserati MC12 is the Italian marque’s only supercar from the mid-2000s, and it has certainly made its mark on the automotive world, offering not just head-turning looks but also an exhilarating driving experience. Of course, this is assuming you’re lucky enough to get your hands on one of these rare beauties.
With just 50 units produced, the MC12 is an exclusive piece of automotive history. 25 were made in 2004, and the remaining 25 rolled out the following year. These cars rarely come up for sale, and when they do, they command a premium. The example featured here is the most expensive MC12 ever sold, fetching a staggering price at a recent auction.
According to Maserati, this particular MC12 was auctioned off during Monterey Car Week for an impressive $5.2 million. The current market value of the MC12 is estimated to be over $3.5 million, with recent sales figures to back this up. The cheapest example sold in the past five years went for $2.5 million, while the most expensive, as mentioned earlier, broke records.
With over 11,500 km on the clock, this car has been well-loved and driven. The vehicle in question bears the chassis number #12095 and was produced in 2005. It sports a stunning Bianco Fuji pearl white paint job with blue accents, a blue leather interior, and BrighTex fabric trim.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the MC12 shares a lot of its DNA with the iconic Ferrari Enzo. Under the hood, you’ll find a 6.0-liter V12 engine, producing a mighty 630 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 481 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm. Some publications have recorded a 0-60 mph sprint time of 3.7 seconds, and the car is capable of reaching a top speed of 205 mph.
While slightly slower on paper than the Enzo (0-60 mph in 3.65 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph), the MC12 still offers jaw-dropping performance. The Enzo’s 6.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine produces 651 horsepower and 485 lb-ft of torque.
