Two decades ago, in 2005, Italian automotive powerhouse Ferrari initiated the XX Programme. The aim of this exclusive initiative was to bring “extreme and special cars to the track at private events” for a select few clients to enjoy on special occasions.
The vehicles utilized for this purpose were not your run-of-the-mill production cars but some of the rarest cars in the world, built solely for racing. In fact, they are so rare that it’s unlikely anyone owns more than one. Except for one man, the curator of the ‘Tailored for Speed’ collection, who happened to own three. And now, they are all up for sale.
The estimated $14 million Ferrari XX trio is soon to be auctioned
‘Tailored for Speed’ is described as one of the “most spectacular and carefully curated collections of supercars and race cars ever assembled into a single offering”. The collection comprises not just the Ferrari XX trio but a total of 42 vehicles, some rare, some unique, and some of historical significance.
The entire collection will go under the hammer with RM Sotheby’s in Zurich, Switzerland, in October. In the coming weeks, we will delve deeper into the collection and showcase some of the most impressive machines. We begin with the three Prancing Horses, not just because they are rare but also because they are being offered for the first time from the same collection.
All three cars are finished in the same shade of blue. The trio includes the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione from 2009, the Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione from 2012, and the Ferrari FXX K Evoluzione from 2016.
The 2009 FXX, evolved from the Enzo, is the penultimate car in the series. For a time, it was retained by the factory and loaned to its owner for Corse Clienti FXX-Programme events, including the most recent Finali Mondiali in 2024. It is expected to fetch up to $4.6 million.
The 2012 Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione is the 39th of only 45 ever produced and has also been under the care of Ferrari for most of its life. Originally finished in Rosso Fuoco, it was later repainted in Blu Opaco Corsa to match the rest of the collection. This car is expected to sell for up to $3.5 million.
Last but not least is the 2016 Ferrari FXX K Evoluzione, an eight-year-old example of the track-only supercar. This car could fetch up to $5.6 million.
Together, these cars are valued at nearly $14 million and are expected to be the highlight of a fiercely competitive auction.
