A barn-find 1950s Porsche 356 Speedster, forgotten for over 60 years in an Ohio warehouse, has emerged from its long slumber, captivating enthusiasts worldwide.
Come August 23rd, this Porsche 356 Speedster is expected to cross the auction block, with estimates reaching £400,000 (approximately 12.8 billion VND).
This single-family-owned Porsche, manufactured in 1955, racked up nearly 100,000 kilometers in its first seven years before being tucked away in storage in 1962. Neglected for decades, the original silver paintwork has largely deteriorated.
Upon its rediscovery by a classic car expert, the Porsche underwent a meticulous restoration. The engine and gearbox were overhauled, fitted with new piston rings, and reassembled to ensure drivability. The fuel system was revitalized while retaining the original patina-clad fuel tank.
The interior received a sympathetic refresh, with new classic-style leather upholstery and carpets, while the dashboard, steering wheel, and gauges remain untouched.
According to Iconic Auctioneers, this Porsche Pre-A 356 Speedster is exceptionally original. Most surviving examples have undergone extensive restorations, whereas this car retains numerous authentic details, including the silver paintwork that was redone before its long hibernation.
